Always loving and forgiving toward all. Always hospitable in all ways. She is going to be 90 soon and so am anticipating her death in the coming years. I can’t imagine life without her. She is my last link to the past. I will be lost without her. 0 Reply Mike1 year agoMikeRecently, the rough road my marriage has been on has forced me to take a hard look at my chronic lack of attention and empathy toward the people I claim to love. 1 Reply Ed Schulte1 year agoEd SchulteSince this is a Br David based site ….the what/who comes out of a comment his made and published ….. “the Cappadocian Fathers speak of “the ring Dance of Eternity”. Br David, is quoting the Essene Fathers ..who are identifying “God” as “Life” as the “Holy Trinity” the three aspects of Life. Three teachers together dancing into one Great Final teaching. They have guided my career, improved my ability to see everyone’s gifts and have taught me to find the joy in life! 3 Reply Malag1 year agoMalagThe who is too many to mention. The what is clear. Those big events (mostly loved ones dying) that shove reality in my face. I used to treat it like a brick wall and bang against it. Now it’s more fluid and I’ve got softer with it and me even though I can still see it sometimes as an enemy despite it being a good teacher. 2 Reply Joy1 year agoJoyMusic has always touched me deeply and taught me a lot. Or talking about being part of a choir. It is teaching me such a lot. Singing together, coming together and create something which connects us and might give deep joy to the audience. Expressing what moves me was not easy to learn but in the choir, and with the gentle support of our choir leader, I feel encouraged to listen tenderly and to bring the essentials into voice. For me, always having been a shy person, this was just the right place to come out of my kind of hiding corner. So grateful! I had some insights along the way, but the floodgates really opened for me when I read a book by Eckhart Tolle. It was then that all of the seeds that had been planted, all of the great teachings I had read and studied, suddenly burst into bloom . . . it wasn’t that Tolle was better or wiser– it was the language he spoke to me in. Once I understood it everything else fell into place and made sense. Now I am able to learn, see, and be present to the many ways that learning comes to me. And healing of my past is coming to me at last. As you know, if you've read some of my other posts, I was raised in foster care without much love or attention. I was used to ignoring my needs and making myself invisible. Emi was a woman my foster dad dated for 9 years. She is an angel! She taught me that life is meant to be enjoyed, not just endured. She taught me to spoil myself, take joy in every day things and to travel whenever possible!...One of my most important teachers is a little Japanese woman whom I met when I was 14 or 15 years old. Emi was a woman my foster dad dated for 9 years. She is an angel! She taught me that life is meant to be enjoyed, not just endured. She taught me to spoil myself, take joy in every day things and to travel whenever possible! She is the kindest most loving woman I’ve ever known, forgiving and strong. She was also raised by people other than her parents. She was interred in a Japanese relocation camp in the desert of California for 4-5 years during WWII, after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, though she was an American citizen. She married a young Japanese US Marine when she was just a teenager (just as I did) and built a happy life with him, moving all over the US while he served at different bases and in Vietnam. Shortly after her husband retired from the Marines, he was killed in a senseless accident, plunging her and her daughters into grief. She recovered, with her goodness and kindness intact. I love Emi deeply for her Christ-like love of pe0ple and life. She will be 85 years old this year and she is my hero. Read More11 Reply Trish1 year agoTrishThat’s a beautiful story. I know he remembers our whole childhood and we stick by each other as devoted brother and sister through joys, difficulties, with love and care. I know I will never alone in this world as long as he is alive. If one of us leaves this world I will still feel the blessings of his presence. 7 Reply Mica1 year agoMicaMyself.
