When I visit my Mennonite friend in southern New Jersey, there is something about being with her and in her simple, grounded lifestyle that helps me feel calm and grounded.
My faith, certain friends and family. Being out in nature and exercise. I have also learned ways to calm myself like this website and/or support groups
that help me deal with my inner turmoil. Sometimes it is self help books/websites/podcasts or listening to calm music that help me deal with a current crisis. Pets of course
are awesome emotional support creatures and help calm me.
My cats. They know me so well and can easily sense when I’m sad, upset, or stressed. Just having them sitting in my lap purring and I can’t help but feel calm and grounded.
Definitely, my son who loves me unconditionally and my sister who calls daily. My mentors over the years. They helped me to grow in self-awareness and to live my questions instead of insisting on answers before decision making. The many authors who wrote books that challenged me to grow. The dear friends who supported me in the hard times and encouraged me to be rooted in love.
Meditation does, but it does not work when I am in real turmoil. Then I have to wait until the possible inner storm subsided or has been worked out to a certain extent. Dear friends who coincidentally may be involved or who are able to reply authentically and in the same time be present in loving kindness; a walk in nature; in the woods or alongside the river close to my home; this can help very much to sort out possible confusion; and of course, you here, too!
Such a great reflective question. here are my choices.
Standing with my tree friend in Central Park. Her name is Esther. I stand with her cheek to cheek and reflect on : letting go, embracing what comes and trusting the universe that it provides me exactly what I need.
Petting the dogs that are taken out by the dog walkers in the morning. Sometimes I sit with two of them on a bench for a while
Empathy ! Empathy by a good friend, feeling really and completely heard and distinguishing the need behind the feelings I have.
That’s what calms me and grounds me.

My wife and “love of our lives” and best friend did but she passed recently. I think to feel calm and grounded one would need to feel/know unconditional love? If this is accurate, then I am currently testing friendships to see if this quality exists between us. Beyond who I would say awareness or god includes these qualities.
I am going to add what. My morning routine which includes this site, is a total grounder for me.
Nature, art, and authors are huge on my list. My family and my inner circle friends also bring me into reality.
My book of quotes that I have added to when a particular phrase etc has struck. Many times I randomly open it and a phrase will calm me so much.
I don’t have a who that helps calm and ground me. I usually resort to prayer and the sounds and feel of nature. The sounds of the birds singing, the water in the creek winding through the earth, and the feel of the wind. My home in the country is where I am most at peace.
I look around me to notice where I am to remind me that the turmoil and anxiety I feel is in my mind, rather than any actual experience. Or I’ll ask, “ Where are my feet?” That brings me right back to the present and what is actually happening rather than my mind’s imaginings.

Trees. Whenever I feel restless, annoyed or out of sorts, I look to trees. They are so generous, graceful and present to the moment.
I agree!
