I needed to do a lot of soul searching back in 2004 when I decided to start my journey to divorce. It was not only living with a sometimes addicted or intoxicated spouse over many years but also one who cheated. My journey to my authentic self was supported by my Mother’s voice (after she died ) and some very dear friends and family. My faith and church also helped me through this difficult time.

Well, James Baldwin is one person that
has had an impact on me.
My friend Max, whose birthday party I
attended yesterday, is inspiring to me.
Really, anyone who is attempting to be
their authentic self, is inspiring to me.
I think, one of the bravest things you can
do, is to be yourself. Especially if who
you are, pushes against societal or
    cultural norms.

inspirations comes from different ppl for different reasons… my mom – for being kind, empathetic, caring; my ex – for being true to who I am as a lesbian; my kids – for their love and laughter; ppl I don’t know who lift me up and let me know there is always good in this world.
Have a great weekend everyone. Ya’ll inspire me too!

My elders! People who have suffered and put up with way more than myself. My husband has me believe in myself. My sons. They are both themselves. One shows a “can do” anything possible attitude and the younger is “let’s see this as it is” personality.

The teachers Eckhart Tolle, Ram Das, Mooji and Rupert Spiro. They have helped me to see who I really am and how to live and learn from this life I have been blessed to experience. Not forgetting this website and the Gratefulness team with the daily reminders to find gratefulness in every situation and let it be.

For me it is a what not a who. If my eyes close at night and then open in the morning for a couple of more months, I will reach 66 years on earth. I have spent half of those years intoxicated to one degree or another with alcohol. Through the practices I have explored and participated in for the past 15 months I was introduced to the concept of the authentic self. To live an authentic life, I must be in touch with my authentic self. My desire to live alcohol free has inspired me to follow this path.

Young children continually inspire and teach me to live an authentic life….to live simply, give more, except less and enjoy every moment…..just simple and easy.

Nature … trees are best at being trees … birds are best at being birds… snakes are best at being snakes. The sun and the moon … they work together…

Jim Toothaker, Ruth Martucci, and Ruth Howland, were all Quaker elders in my faith community who, by example, helped me to live my most authentic life over the years.
