Leigha Mcgregor1 year agoLeigha McgregorI am grateful for my ancestors for giving me life and a beautiful family, the people whom created the objects I know use in every day life, the hard workers who harvest and manufacture our food, scientists that create the medication that help cure / fight disease and sickness, Authors and song writers that give me amazing content to read / music that brings me happiness & the higher powers that watches over me. 0 Reply Malag1 year agoMalagCountless, really countless. The people who made this phone I am looking at. The builders of this house I am in. The people who keep the water and power running and the roads and the refuse. Also the people online: this community and the very many wise people I have read and listened to. 1 Reply Amy1 year agoAmyMany musicians and artists whose songs I have sung and played. They have often said things through their lyrics and music that have been just what I needed at a specific time of my life. 1 Reply Michele1 year agoMichelereally good one! yes to music! btw, everytime I see your pic it makes me smile. 0 Reply Amy1 year agoAmyI’m glad it makes you smile. That was the reaction I had the first time I saw it and just HAD to figure out what it was. They are called axolotl (pronounced ox-o-LOT-ul). My husband, the biologist, calls them salamanders with dreadlocks! I realize that I need t0 be reminded, and like Linda, I say thank you to all of them today, being grateful and humbled for this question. So grateful for everyone who shows loving kindness and compassion in countless ways. 3 Reply Hot Sauce1 year agoHot SauceThe thousands of near-death experiencers who have told their stories on nderf.org, none of whom I have met, but who have given me a lot of insights about how to live with love for others, forgiveness for others, a desire to grow in wisdom, and a willingness to be grateful for all life experiences which are opportunities to grow in love and wisdom for God, others, and self. 4 Reply Linda1 year agoLindaAll of the thousands of public servants, who do the work needed in spite of a disinterested president. They keep our checks coming and the government running, mostly without thanks and appreciation. Today I say thank you to all of them. 6 Reply Teri Butler1 year agoTeri ButlerMany authors and teachers who have helped me gain knowledge whether by reading their books or taking their online classes or even cooking their recipes for my family. 2 Reply Present Moment1 year agoPresent MomentI have been helped, or will be helped in the future, by all those who share their experience and knowledge instead of hoarding it for ego. 3 Reply Maeve1 year agoMaeve(Thinking about the "word for today." A stranger doing a random act of kindness would come to mind. 3 Reply Mica1 year agoMicaI thought everyone would be writing about the people who grow our food etc etc, but no one has mentioned them in the posts above, so I’m glad to be visiting today’s question. 2 Reply Gerold Butler1 year agoGerold ButlerKrista Tippett, for her mindfully probing conversations with so many wise and curious persons. Mary Oliver, who helps me to be grateful for this amazing earth. Brother David, and the amazing convergence of shared gratefulness on this sight. I learned gratitude in my recovery program, but grateful living has been my lantern, lighting my way. Serenity and real joy are daily byproducts of this kind of living. 6 Reply Zenith1 year agoZenithLance Armstrong. David Helfgott. The Queen. The people on this website. There was a time when I was convinced that I would meet Lance. I have since realized that people at that level of financial wealth do not mix with those of less wealth. 4 Reply Anonymous1 year agoAnonymousI have to think of David Whytes quote, which was published many times on gratefulness.org: ‘gratitude is the understanding that many millions of things come together and live together and mesh together and breathe together in order for us to take even one more breath of air…’ it shows so clearly how we all are a composition of circumstances, including countless beings. most of them I’ve never met and will never meet, yet they are a part of me and I am a part of them. gratitude is the onl...I have to think of David Whytes quote, which was published many times on gratefulness.org: ‘gratitude is the understanding that many millions of things come together and live together and mesh together and breathe together in order for us to take even one more breath of air…’ it shows so clearly how we all are a composition of circumstances, including countless beings. most of them I’ve never met and will never meet, yet they are a part of me and I am a part of them. gratitude is the only sane answer to being alive, to being consciously alive ? very tangeable is the inspiration from spiritual teachers, who I have not met in person, but I feel their support, and protection though I’ve never met them, some who already passed away, and yet ??? Thank you to All, here, there, far away and beyond. ❤️ 3 Reply Carol1 year agoCarolSo much of my help has come from books, from poems and quotes that plant life-giving seeds that grow into greater self-awareness. Many times it comes from folks who answer these daily questions with a willingness to be vulnerable, honest and open. 6 Reply Pollyanna Gladwell1 year agoPollyanna GladwellEverybody, whether I have met them or not, is a helper and a teacher if I am willing to learn from their example. Some help me by showing me what I want to be and some by showing me what I DON’T want to be. Both are equally valuable and I bless them all. 8 Reply Malag1 year agoMalagThat’s an interesting perspective I hadn’t thought about Pollyanna: “Some help me by showing me what I want to be and some by showing me what I DON’T want to be.” Thanks for the insight. 0 Reply Katrina1 year agoKatrinaEven before reading one response, my answer was, “The people here.” You all have comforted me, kicked my butt, inspired me, made me say, “WHAT?!”, challenged my inbox thinking, and sent me soaring.
