Such a thoughtful question, and so many beautiful answers. I offer gratitude for all those who have spoken, written and taken steps - however small, to support, honour, protect and preserve our natural world against the forces of development and / or destruction. I have never met those who have harvested my food, but it is good to remember those who have put in labor so that we can put food on the table. 4 Reply Linda2 months agoLindaYes!!! 2 Reply dragonfly2 months agodragonflySo many people here have given me new perspectives, reminded me to look closer, go deeper and, of course, to see and find so, so many things to be grateful for, even the ones I don't notice and take for granted, or especially those I take for granted. Even though I have not met any of you I often feel a bond and that makes my life brighter and my burdens lighter. Thank you! It was magical to me and though at that age I didn’t understand it all, I grew to understand more and more as life went on. Now at 68 yo I still love to open it and feel the calm of his wisdom. 4 Reply Carol2 months agoCarolThe first thing that came to mind was the authors of many, many books filled with wisdom that I have read over the years. Br. David, Rumi, Gibran, Merton, Angelo, Keating, and on and on. 4 Reply Barb C2 months agoBarb CI love the comments here about the chain of people who make it possible for us to eat a meal. Extending that, everyone who built a road or laid a power line or installed plumbing (thank you, wastewater treatment workers!) -- all the taken-for-granted infrastructure that means the lights come on, the sewage goes away, the workings of government and business, imperfect though they are, mean my paycheck arrives and my savings are tallied and insured, and on and on and on! Such an intricate web of interconnectedness. The leaders from local to international who have inspired me have helped me continue to hope that we can be better and do better. And then there are the writers! So, so many amazing and beautiful stories and poems and inspiration that fill me up. In particular, the guys that decided to commercialize the mountain bike. Gary Fischer, Tom Ritchey, Joe Breeze, and Charlie Kelly. This became my passion, my livelihood, my social network, and gave me direction at a time that I really needed it. It is a thread that runs through my whole life. 5 Reply Mary Pat2 months agoMary PatToo many to mention. There are so many people who come to mind, Some are famous, others are just everyday people, and I am truly grateful for every one. I am just as grateful for everyone of you here, because you give me insight, and help me start the day in a good, positive way. I’m also grateful for having this website of gratitude to share and meet with you all. I appreciate that you are here and how much support we are for each other. 6 Reply Kevin2 months agoKevinEvery time I sit down to enjoy a meal there are scores of people who have made the food before me possible. I envision a massively large dining room table and sitting around me are farmers, truckers, grain elevator workers, educators, scientists, office workers and grocery store clerks. We’re having a wonderful meal together, and grateful for each other’s role in making it all happen. 12 Reply Pilgrim2 months agoPilgrimA wondrous gathering! 3 Reply Michele2 months agoMicheleThe Universe. 5 Reply Don Jones2 months agoDon JonesThis wee community. 10 Reply Julian Daal Childers2 months agoJulian Daal ChildersEric Thomas, a Youtube content creator. But also all the teachers, spirits, elders who came before and offered their wisdom so that we may use their gifts offered for creating a world where all love to live in. It is work in progress to do better than before. The ones who offered hope in dark times have helped me a lot, and probably most of them I never have met. They have sent out hope into the world in manifold ways, through wise books, prayers, podcasts, arts, light, thoughts, giving rise to not to give up but to transform what needs to be transformed, beginning within me in order to help creating a world of Love and Peace for all living beings.
