Music is healing to me. I can’t pick one song because so many different types have help me.

Gospel helps me to feel the grace of the creator. Brings comfort. Gives me hope. Helps me feel connected to my history, and to my mom.

Certain pop songs brings me back to a situation that may have been joyful or reminding me i was not made to be broken. Connects to love and the feeling of gratefulness.

The sound of nature comforts me, roots me to earth and beyond. Rocks me to sleep with thuhderclaps and rain.

Music makes all my senses colorfully come to life.

“We are the world” comes to mind. That song touched my soul. I also love celtic music and the instruments in particular. I am irish so I always find it comforting to listen to. I am grateful for being Irish and also grateful I have been able to go to Ireland 2x so far.

I sing “The Rainbow Connection” with my daughter almost everyday.

I quite like the music of Krishna Das and the idea he talks about – that being every mention of a name for God (in the myriad forms) is like planting a seed. In the workshop tho – well … 70’s headbanger…

Strangely hard to answer. I read a lot of poetry and that’s what comes to mind before a movie. And songs are poetry, after all. I do like Dragonfly’s suggestion of “Happy” by Pharrell Williams. I’ll need to think about this some more.

The movie “Amistad” and the movie “Romero.” Both true stories. As to songs, too many to name. I’ve spent most of my life singing in bars, community theatre productions, and church choirs. I guess you could say I sang everywhere from the saloon to the sanctuary and I didn’t find the audiences/church parishioners much different. Music is a universal language and every song I’ve been blessed to share has blessed me and I am grateful.

Happy by Pharrell Williams would be an upbeat one. Or more “subdued”: What a wonderful world by Louis Armstrong.

I loved the two songs from the gratefulness class I took on this site. I am posting links. Also sharing words for a hymn that we used to sing on Thanksgiving day in a church that I attended many years ago. Sorry for the male only terminology. It is a very old song. I think I have always been most moved by the very first line.

I love Yo-Yo Ma’s playing and this version of Over the Rainbow is gorgeous. Follow it with this one by Israel “IZ” Kamakawiwoʻole for a wonderful back to back dose of rainbows: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1bFr2SWP1I&ab_channel=MountainAppleCompanyInc.

This can change daily for me, today it would be “Let it Be”. It’s fitting for me in this time and place. 🙂

Enya’s On My Way Home. One of the lines says “I remember all the best days” and that reminds me of all the joy I’ve had and how blessed I’ve been amid the difficulties.

All music that slows me down and pulls me back into the moment helps me live gratefully. Particularly impactful songs are Van Morrison’s Into the Mystic, Joni Mitchell’s Circle Game, and The Wind by Cat Stevens.

I was really moved by Joni Mitchell’s performance of Circle Game at this year’s Newport Folk Festival after her recovery from a massive stroke.

This is a tough one… There are many movies and art that invoke gratitude. I have gratitude from enjoying them, not necessarily their content being gratitude inspiring. But, trying to stay on track, I feel inspired by “Kundun” , the story of the 14th Dalai Lama. I always laugh and cry over “Harold and Maude”… and who can’t clap their hands to “I love days like this” by Shaun Escoffrey–if you haven’t listened to it I suggest you do!

I was a young person when “Harold and Maude” came out. One of my favorite movies that I had not thought about for ages. Thanks Avril for a blast back to my youth.
