A couple of weeks ago when I participated in a some Zoom meetings and conversations, I guess. Also ordered groceries online and then picked them up at the store. But the real challenge was to think – before the social distancing and quarantine started when was the last time I did something for the first time – I think it was a whole year ago, when I drove a riding mower for the first time. I should be doing “first time” things way more often! 7 Reply Pilgrim10 months agoPilgrimMe, too, Katrina! When you say that, I realize I don’t often do things for the first time, either. No time like the present. 4 Reply Palm10 months agoPalmA few things since quarantine: I am working from home, making bread, doing yoga with my daughter following instructions online, I bought at a local fruit shop today (will go back), we went dairy free. 5 Reply Eddie10 months agoEddieI started visiting this site not long ago. I stopped drinking 9 years ago and saw a couple others of psychologists sine then to work on my personal issues. Last year I started with a holistic based psychologist. She taught me about mindfulness an gratitude.. A book she recommended was 12 Smart Things to Do When the Booze and Drugs are Gone by Allen Berger. An excellent resource. Last November he mentioned about this site…it has made a difference in my life.. 3 Reply Eddie10 months agoEddieThanks for the book recommendation. 1 Reply Samuel10 months agoSamuelGod Bless you, Eddie! I personally know another Eddie who desperately needs to cease drinking but cannot. I pray for him because, at this point, it’s the only help I can give him now. I am so glad you have found this site. A sense of Gratefulness is such a tremendous boost to our ability to focus our thoughts and efforts on the good things in life, and to stay the sometimes-difficult courses we must follow in our lives. It has been a great help to me in dealing with my grief… sb 6 Reply Eddie10 months agoEddieI’m glad I found this site too, thank you for the kind response. 1 Reply Carla10 months agoCarlaJust this week I was invited to write five Prayers of the Faithful for my parish community. I’ve often spoken a spontaneous prayer; this was all new: to write, record & master sending the voice memo & later I heard myself during the online service. Wearing a mask while walking was new and began Tues. May all have a restful weekend! ?? 6 Reply Donna10 months agoDonnaWhat a great question! What a blessing to be able to participate in discussions in your pajamas. Three weeks ago, I ordered groceries to be delivered and setup a grocery delivery station in my garage. I may never go back to shopping at the store. Five weeks ago, I learned how to disinfect high traffic touch surfaces. I have never disinfected a doorknob in my life! So we will probably get less colds and flu forever. Thankful for new experiences :)))) Read More7 Reply GCharlotte10 months agoGCharlotteI purchased moo moo land o lakes mini half and halfs for the first time. I will buy them again. I bought them from a major retailer and they were shipped to me;I did not mind waiting and enjoyed the whole experience. The Moo Moo are just great in coffee and tea and one is just needed per cup! 5 Reply Misty10 months agoMistyI’ve been growing mushrooms for the first time (a mushroom farm kit). They require little care – just add water – and they don’t talk back. I set it up at the start of our lockdown.. and tomorrow is harvest day! 6 Reply Palm10 months agoPalmThat is great Misty, I’ve always heard they are difficult to grow.. thanks for sharing 3 Reply devy10 months agodevyPicking up our food order from out Metro grocery store after ordering on line, phoning and checking up on people. Before that it was at least a year ago when I took a painting course..once life is back to normal, I will see more what first time things I can try.. 4 Reply EJP10 months agoEJPNow..living in this very uncertain, strange new world. 6 Reply Kevin10 months agoKevinLast week, when I began wearing a mask to go shopping for food. Very strange. 4 Reply BabaYaga10 months agoBabaYagaMe, too. When I understood that wearing a mask was a way to protect others, it became a no-brainer. I’m not fussed by the civic duties, such as mask-wearing, that are asked of us at this time. As a friend and I discussed yesterday, for many of us, the current situation is not what we’d remotely call “adversity.” Adversity would be hiding in an attic or inside a wall because you belonged to a particular ethnic group and others in your community would betray you to authorities. 4 Reply Kevin10 months agoKevinOh for sure, my friend, perfectly stated. For many of us, myself included, what we dare to say is adversity pales in comparison to what so many people around the globe have had to endure, and not with just COVID-19, but with deep sense of fear and terror of fearing for their lives, the safety of their loved ones, and even if they’ll have a tomorrow. 1 Reply Christina10 months agoChristinaYesterday I went to Walmart Grocery to pick up my order…sign of the times! 3 Reply « Previous 1 2 My Private Gratitude Journal Write an entry in your private gratefulness journal Get Started This site is brought to you by A Network for Grateful Living, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
