Kevin4 months agoKevinPeople have told me to my face that kindness, commitment to my faith and values, and readiness to offer help where I can, are attributes I possess. I am grateful for that because there are a great many other things that I do poorly. Not sure that is a bad thing and I’m learning how to not take things personally or absorb others energies . Also I have been called the master networker by grounds because I connect people with whom they need to be connected to whether it be a therapist or healer .I excel at working with children and adults with special needs 5 Reply Dusty Su4 months agoDusty SuResilience, especially manifested as having the ability to reframe situations and create bridges of compassion out of them for others. I can fall flat on my face and in looking up from the floor, find myself in the middle of a miracle. It is true that it is a natural talent for me, which I then developed through schooling and a career that lasted over two decades, and then gave up (to work on a farm!). I think I have learned (think is doing a lot of heavy lifting there) that I learned something very important from this question. That just because I am gifted at something doesn’t mean that it is my calling, what I am meant to do. My leaving that career wasn’t rebellious as much as g...That I am (was) a talented Architect. It is true that it is a natural talent for me, which I then developed through schooling and a career that lasted over two decades, and then gave up (to work on a farm!). I think I have learned (think is doing a lot of heavy lifting there) that I learned something very important from this question. That just because I am gifted at something doesn’t mean that it is my calling, what I am meant to do. My leaving that career wasn’t rebellious as much as giving in to the many many signs that it was time to move on. And I have designed and built some beautiful things since, just not as my work gig. I thought that would be my life's work. Then I took over a failing 4-H Club and realized I had a talent with working with kids. I started doing less farming and more social work, and then went back to college to retool, became a social worker, which led me to working with young people within my faith community, which lead me to become a minister.
