I was content to play on my own & made up all kinds of fun ways to spend my time. I do the same today & it brings me great joy. 5 Reply Mica1 year agoMicaYes, Trish – isn’t it a gift to be happy on one’s own?! I’m retired now and bring that gift from my childhood, too. 4 Reply Trish1 year agoTrishYes, it’s wonderful! 1 Reply sunnypatti1 year agosunnypattiThe ability to keep going, no matter what. To keep my head up and know that everything is going to be okay. I was raised to be pretty resilient, as that’s exactly how my mom was while she went thru the things she did when she was a single mom raising (at that point) two kids. 6 Reply Patricia1 year agoPatriciaI had a basically happy childhood in which I was loved and affirmed…and rooted. I loved reading, music, nature, learning new skills, being a tomboy in the woods… all things I still enjoy. I had grandparents who loved me and I am blessed to pass along that love as a grandma myself now. I am so grateful. 6 Reply Gregoire1 year agoGregoireMy childhood was rather turbulent but I grew up in the country where I gained a great appreciation for being in nature in moments of quiet solitude. Adversity has taught me determination fortitude and to trust God. 6 Reply devy1 year agodevyMy sensitivity and love of music. I was exposed to music at a young age and learned the piano and some wind instruments. At 64 years of age and holding, I decided a year ago to learn the guitar. It has it difficult times but I try to look at learning as a lifelong journey for me . As they say patience is a virtue and try to look at learning the guitar like cooking in a slow cooker rather than in a microwave… 7 Reply EJP1 year agoEJPReading…quietly by myself. 7 Reply Trish1 year agoTrishYes~such a wonderful gift! 3 Reply Pilgrim1 year agoPilgrimMy love of reading, music, nature. My ability to spend time alone. My survival instinct. 7 Reply Antoinette1 year agoAntoinetteMy enthusiasm and wonder for life is part of me as a child that I bring to this moment. 5 Reply Howie Geib1 year agoHowie GeibMy childhood engendered endurance and tolerance. Endurance in the sense that I have had for as long as I can remember the ability to keep going, even when there seems to be little in terms of inner resources available to draw from. Tolerance like a blade of grass that gets tossed around by the wind and rain and somehow keeps rooted. Change has never really provoked fear and change does not paralyze me. I am not conditioned to be comfortable at all costs. 5 Reply Kevin1 year agoKevinSpecial gifts? From my childhood? Fortunately, I enjoyed my childhood years, but I am not recalling any special gifts that I brought with me into adulthood. I just feel blessed, as an ordinary-every-day person, to have made it this far in life, as a parent, spouse and grandfather! 9 Reply Judith1 year agoJudithWelcome back, Kevin! I always look forward to what you have to say and missed you yesterday. 4 Reply Kevin1 year agoKevinYou are very kind, Judith. With your note here I realize that after I had written my reflection out on a document that I keep for each month, and now five years and counting, I forgot to post it up yesterday! So thanks for letting me know! I went back and added mine just now to yesterday’s question. 4 Reply Mica1 year agoMicaThanks, Kevin – I’ll check it out! I trusted you’d be back, remembering a time when your regular Lounge appearance was missing, but you were on a trip, as I recall. What a good idea – keeping the document! I wonder if I can just Save my posts here at gratefulness… I’ll try 3 Reply Pollyanna Gladwell1 year agoPollyanna GladwellMica…if you click on your name (below your avatar), you will see all your posts are saved on your profile page. 3 Reply « Previous 1 2 My Private Gratitude Journal Write an entry in your private gratefulness journal Get Started This site is brought to you by A Network for Grateful Living, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
