The sound of the ocean waves, sound of Seagalls while sailing on the bay. Sounds of birds in the spring and summer time.
Listening to live music but of course any music that I enjoy.

The sound of birds chirping at the beginning of the new incoming season, the sound of choirs singing, the sounds of nature. Being almost deaf, I can appreciate these sounds with my hearing aids.

The sound of the meditation bell, especially since having heard the video- teaching once given by Thich Nhat Hanh. It was and is all- inspiring to me to hear what he then recommended to take into awareness before inviting the bell –

“Body, speech and mind in perfect oneness.
With the sound of this bell I send my heart along.
May the hearers awaken from their forgetfulness
and transcend the path of anxiety and sorrow.”

“The voice of the Buddha calling you back to your true home”.

There are so many wonderful sounds, but my favorite is music – listening and making. Favorite genres: classical, opera, sixties folk, spirituals and smooth jazz. Also love birds chirping. A few studies have found that the sound of birds chirping contributes to physical health.

The sound of the rain on the roof, the wind rustling through the trees, the waves of the ocean hitting the beach, my cat’s purring, my dog snoring. Oh my and of course the birds singing….how Blessed to have the gift of hearing.

The birds singing, especially this time of the year, after they have been quiet for a bit.
    Rain falling.
The wind rustling through the trees.
    Children laughing, playing outside.
    Music…..
    Silence @ certain times.

The sound of the furnace, humming steadily away, providing heat for our home. The sounds of my husband quietly starting his day. The sounds of waves lapping on the shore of the ocean …

The songs of the forest, the stream, and the ocean. The sound of my son playing the piano and his laughter as well. The perfect song right when you need it.

The wind high in a forest, which to me sometimes sounds like the ocean.
    Ocean waves on the shore.
A stream chuckling over the rocks.
Bird calls, especially songbirds but also the “gronk” of a great blue heron or the screech of an eagle making me look up.
    Children laughing.
The cadence of walking in step with my husband, whether it’s through crunchy fall leaves or on a soft trail or in downtown on a sidewalk.
    Rain falling on the roof.
    A crackling fire.
The crackling sound a loaf of bread makes right after I take it out of the oven.
The ping of lids telling me my batch of canning is a success.
The voices of my daughters when I haven’t talked with them in a while.
My bike tires on the road surface and the small sounds of the equipment as I pedal and shift.
    The hush after snowfall.

It’s a tie between silence and the little birds chirping right outside my window! Nourishing indeed.

    Hello all,
It has been a month long that I didn’t be here. I was in Vietnam to visit my hometown and participate in my dearly sister’s wedding party. I was already returned the U.S.
I would say the sounds that nourish me are sounds from the urban places, as where I was born; loud music on the street, sounds from a lot of vehicles rushed running on the road, sellers try to catch the potential buyers. Those are such crazy sounds. However, they remind me of where I was growing up and already left. Thanks God for a family gathering opportunity. How peaceful living in a quiet home right now and cheerfulness of family gathered in Vietnam.
    Have a wonderful week, everyone!

Thanks for the warm greeting! Of course! I had such a wonderful trip in a year-round hot weather country alongside my people. From there, I recharged my energy and am ready for a new semester.

Oh my! So many! Including the sound
of silence. I could make a long list, but
    I won’t. Let’s just say that I am tuned
to the sounds around me and I have
deep gratitude for the ability to hear them.

Birdsong always makes me pause to listen, especially in early spring. The music is always a welcome change from the silence of winter mornings.

Hearing rain hitting the roof and leaves. The wind blowing, sounds of waves lapping on the shore the sound of a loon .

In this frigid cold weather the sound of the furnace running and the coffee pot brewing a hot beverage.
    The morning silence and quiet.
    Children’s delight.
    Birds chirpping.
Greetings of “hello, how are you today.”
