Sexism, homophobia, racism, anti-semitism and other prejudicial points view have been deal-breakers when they surfaced in past friendships. And although current friends may have differing political sympathies or affiliations, none of them would support Donald Trump or Boris Johnson. 2 Reply Don Jones6 months agoDon JonesHonesty and presence. 3 Reply 6 months agoI have many friends, each with different qualities. There is a common quality: empathy, listening, showing up friendship with gestures, even in moments of social distancing and with a facial mask. But first of all I am grateful because these friends exist. 2 Reply Hot Sauce6 months agoHot SauceTo me, the qualities I like in a friend are love, loyalty, forgiveness, humor, empathy, sympathy, and generosity. 2 Reply Linda6 months agoLindaA good listener. One who asks questions and listens to the answers rather than just waiting to talk. I have some lovely friends who are good listeners and bless my life immensely. 3 Reply Carla6 months agoCarlaThe ability to listen attentively is invaluable. Mutual investment in hearing out the other’s goals, dreams, hurts, deaths & spiritual resurrections. Willingness to journey with me for the long haul of many years; appreciation for humor & ability to challenge me to grow & see & do more. To be faithful & loving. 3 Reply Maria6 months agoMariaUnconditional love… I have lots of friends but true friends love and accept me “warts and all” Knowing you can truly be urself in their company. 3 Reply Maeve6 months agoMaeveSomeone who really sees me with appreciation and delight. Someone who can listen well. Someone who has warmth and a good sense of humor. Someone who sticks with me even when I am rude and obnoxious. Someone who will gently but firmly call me on my crap. Someone who is kind. Someone who is honest. 4 Reply Zenith6 months agoZenithI agree with Mark. Maturity is really important. Of course, having something in common also helps. 3 Reply Mark Piper6 months agoMark PiperMaturity. Maturity is the tall, wide, trunk of a tree and one cannot get that healthy, tall, wide, trunk without a little time, and without good roots that hold it in place, and drink up the life giving water under the soil; roots that enable maturity include patience, love, kindness, discretion, knowledge, and light-heartedness. 4 Reply Michele6 months agoMicheleLoyalty comes to mind. They invite me to share my wounds with them & they love me for my beauty & my ugly. Loyalty is critical in friendship. Betrayals can be devastating (but are also fodder for growth.) Laughter & a spirit filled with fun is most appreciated. This life can be heavy & lightness feels so good. 4 Reply devy6 months agodevyTrustworthy , compassion, empathetic, an ear to listen, understanding..can phone anytime .
