Solitude helps me get centred and present 1 Reply Hot Sauce10 months agoHot SauceSolitude allows me to lean into spiritual practice, reading, and intellectual reflection in order to shape me for living wisely when I am among other people. It is our time alone that helps us to live wisely in community. Individual thinking and spiritual experience is necessary for the collective good. 3 Reply Edwin W. Smith10 months agoEdwin W. SmithI think its worth pointing out that solitude expresses the joy of being alone and away from the hustle/bustle of life, not to be confused with loneliness which expresses the pain of being alone. 7 Reply Tahsin Tabassum10 months agoTahsin Tabassumstarting writing 1 Reply Javier Visionquest10 months agoJavier VisionquestWhere is this SOL-I-TUDE you speak of? Thanx for all you All do; have a good day 🙂 reality 2 Reply A.H10 months agoA.HSelf-reflection and healing. Sometimes we may need to contemplate on what we are doing in our life in the moment of solitude and question how we are feeling about it. Isolation brings all the negative tides of life and gives you the chance to change it for the better. Solitude is bliss. 3 Reply pkr10 months agopkrI must admit I am quite enjoying having all of this “down time”. I have the time that I have been wanting for, to work on myself, go inside and take stock. I am trying to grow and get in touch with my inner self during this “ time of corona”. I have been able to work on “my practice”. I have also been able to spring clean and de-clutter. Because of these efforts I feel lighter! 3 Reply TeriB10 months agoTeriBHaving the time to be in deep thought, without the interruptions of daily life. 3 Reply Chester10 months agoChesterOur strong orientation to “others” as part of our design means when we are with others our thoughts are always focused, to some extent on them – wanting to please, to use, to help, to escape – whatever one’s inclination, the thoughts are nonetheless on them. Solitude can unbind our thoughts and allow meaningful work on what is most meaningful to us, whatever that might be, unbound from the other in our presence. 2 Reply Linda10 months agoLindaBefore the virus, I used to long for open, unstructured time where I could just be, follow my intuitions and passions, and see what came up for me. I now have the luxury of that in the midst of the pandemic. Now I fight the thoughts in my head that I am just being lazy. No wonder it has been hard to relax all my life. I am grateful for the openness of this time. 4 Reply Gerry10 months agoGerryAs the extraneous fades into the background, clarity arises, leaving one freer to perceive opportunity that may have been lurking beneath our nose. Changing priorities. Being truly expressive to others. While donning the protective mask, the mask of deception may fall away. 3 Reply Cathie10 months agoCathieThere is a line from a song that talks about the space between…that is what I think about solitude. Recognizing, leaning in, embracing, or opening up to those spaces between activity, in retrospect, have made my active life richer, as it helps me to live in the moment and see what I may have missed. 3 Reply Rachel10 months agoRachelOur rich inner life, that can be muffled or even lost by the external demands and distractions of this world, might surface. We might start remembering who we are. Maybe my muse will stop hiding so much! 5 Reply Michele10 months agoMicheleHonestly it helps to be independent and not having to depend on anyone else. Yes it’s lonely. There is a strength to it. How many times do we all see the saying ‘self love’- it’s so important. 5 Reply Butterfly10 months agoButterflyBy leaning into solitude I become more aware of everything – my body and how it feels, how I feel emotionally and it allows me to go deeply into the All that I am. It’s a beautiful place. I can also be more aware of my surroundings and the things I take for granted. 3 Reply Pilgrim10 months agoPilgrimTo borrow a lovely phrase from Anna in the Lounge yesterday, perhaps the opportunity to develop the patience to sprout wonder. 4 Reply 1 2 Next » My Private Gratitude Journal Write an entry in your private gratefulness journal Get Started This site is brought to you by A Network for Grateful Living, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
