Noel2 months agoNoelWhen you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot in it and hang on – Franklin D Roosevelt. – During my exceptionally trying times, I stand firm to this quote, if there is a knot, I still have something to hold on to….even if it is just the strength to stand up and face another day. 3 Reply Mica2 months agoMicaThanks for the great FDR quote, Noel 🙂 1 Reply LisaBeth2 months agoLisaBethThere are several quotes that quiet my mind. Not my circus, not my monkeys. Don’t force solutions. Look for the good. I can choose peace instead of this. Let it be. 4 Reply Imo Greenwood2 months agoImo GreenwoodI really like “Not my circus, not my monkeys!” 3 Reply Charlie T2 months agoCharlie T“The best time to plant a tree, was twenty years ago. The second best time is now.” This helps me when I’m procrastinating or making excuses for not doing something. 4 Reply Barb C2 months agoBarb CI use this one often in my work life to encourage investment in walking/bicycling facilities. Some of our biggest trail systems started with one segment 40 years ago. We wouldn’t have them today if someone hadn’t started then. So my version is sometimes “The best time to start a trail system was twenty years ago. The second best time is now.” 2 Reply Lou Mu2 months agoLou MuThis too shall pass. Such a simple reminder that nothing is permanent and that is why we are so lucky to feel and experience all that we do. 8 Reply Mica2 months agoMicaThank you, Lou Mu – that one’s a keeper 🙂 1 Reply sunnypatti2 months agosunnypattiThere’s not one quote for me. There are many. So many! I write quotes down in my journal all the time. Depending on the quote, depending on the day, certain words resonate more. Today, I like this one: “A miracle happened: another day of life.” ~ Paulo Coelho 6 Reply Pilgrim2 months agoPilgrim“There’s no place like home.” (Dorothy) “Be not afraid, I go before you always, come follow me, and I will give you rest.” 6 Reply Diane2 months agoDianePilgrim….there is indeed no place like home. Wherever that may be, as we have both discovered. ♥ 3 Reply Maeve2 months agoMaeve“Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.” -Plato 8 Reply Laura2 months agoLaura“Be joyful, though you have considered all the facts.” – attributed to Wendell Berry I can tie myself into a fret knot pretty quickly sometimes. These words always put things into perspective. There is so much to appreciate and be grateful for, even during the fact of difficult times. 6 Reply Chester2 months agoChester“Not what you have but what you use, not what you see but what you choose, these are the things that mar or bless the sum of human happiness.” Stumbled upon this quote in my young adult years and it comes back to me when needed ever since. Have since discovered it was first shared by Joseph Fort Newton, a minister writer from early 1900s. Thank you Joseph! 7 Reply EJP2 months agoEJP“Free your heart from hatred. Free your mind from worries. Live simply. Give more. Expect less and enjoy every moment.” 6 Reply Iamme2 months agoIammeI don't really have one, but this is apt for today - Seize the day! I'd got myself up, showered, hair done and dressed up (because I work from home I am usually in casual comfy clothes) and was about to head out to pick up a friend to go and be interviewed and filmed for a documentary. I’d got myself up, showered, hair done and dressed up (because I work from home I am usually in casual comfy clothes) and was about to head out to pick up a friend to go and be interviewed and filmed for a documentary. I then received a txt to say that filming was postponed due to covid. I was about to change out of my dress, back into comfy mode and crack on with work, but then decided to instead meet my friend and go for coffee with her as she would be at a loose end. We ended up joining her early morning swimming group for coffee and breakfast, I met a new person whom I clicked with as we had so much in common. I’m so happy I decided to go out. Anyhoo, after my daily morning ritual visit to this website for question of the day and my gratitude journal, I must now start work, but what a lovely and unexpected start I had! Because for those who love with heart and soul, there is no separation. From Charlie Chaplin: I have many problems in my life. But my lips don’t know that. They always smile. 12 Reply Carla2 months agoCarla“Be still and know I am God….” I’m pretty sure it’s Psalm 63 8 Reply Kevin2 months agoKevinPsalm 46.10, actually. (But what I like to think is that we remember the phrase and its meaning, not the reference number someone assigned to it!) 4 Reply Carla2 months agoCarlaThank you Kevin. 🙂I knew on this site, someone would know the accurate location..
