Spending many fall weekends in cape may New Jersey watching hawks and monarch butterflies migrate south . Monarchs to Mexico , hawks not sure where they go . We were able to go this October of 2020 and I feel blessed to have been able to go . 7 Reply Pollyanna Gladwell3 months agoPollyanna GladwellI am sustained by the memory that when I couldn’t change my feeling and my thinking by thinking (at times a very flawed organ of perception), when I took action, my feeling and my thinking changed. The action might be as simple, as it was this morning, as lighting a mini-candle on this site and having it tucked up in the corner of my screen. Seeing it reminds me that no matter how difficult circumstances and people are, I want to live in the Light and practice forgiveness, love and grate...I am sustained by the memory that when I couldn’t change my feeling and my thinking by thinking (at times a very flawed organ of perception), when I took action, my feeling and my thinking changed. The action might be as simple, as it was this morning, as lighting a mini-candle on this site and having it tucked up in the corner of my screen. Seeing it reminds me that no matter how difficult circumstances and people are, I want to live in the Light and practice forgiveness, love and gratefulness. I am deeply concerned about what America may very well experience in the coming days, and my prayers are for a peaceful transition of political power. Blessings. Of course, there were the days of my youth when all the body parts worked without complaining. And my farming years, that ever-rich, hard, close to the earth and rewording work of my young adult years remain forever in my heart and senses. Then there was the children’s retreat program I founded and ran for 26 years that remains a source of joy and pride for me pe...I never think about my memories as sustaining me, but rather as experiences that dovetail together and contribute to who I am today. Of course, there were the days of my youth when all the body parts worked without complaining. And my farming years, that ever-rich, hard, close to the earth and rewording work of my young adult years remain forever in my heart and senses. Then there was the children’s retreat program I founded and ran for 26 years that remains a source of joy and pride for me personally. More recently, I retired five years ago from working as a Youth Advocate for 31 years locally, a job and a passion I enjoyed greatly each and every year of my tenure. As I look back over the years I consider myself very fortunate to have had meaningful employment that oftentimes didn’t feel like work at all―all blessing I give thanks for often.
