What kinds of experiences open me to awe?

    Going outside at night away from the lights of the city. My best experience ever was during a cruise from San Francisco to New York. During the middle of clear nights, we would go up onto the upper deck and gaze at all the stars. I find this very humbling. We are just a minut speck in the universe. I was thinking how many people are looking up at the sky at the same time and thinking the same thing? How many of those stars have planets with beings who are also gazing up and wondering?     Our galaxy, our solar system, sunrise, sunset, the moon, stars.
    Seeing acts of kindness being performed.
    Seeing people rise and overcome insurmountable obstacles to reach their goals and their true potential, like athletes and other lovely success stories.
    Seeing faith in people and seeing faith in action.
    Seeing people being brave in the face of danger.
    Music and melodies.
    If I stop, slow down and pay attention more throughout the day I think I will find many many more things that awe me, all around me, all day, everyday. Even just the way the sunlight enters our house and creates patterns and shadows on the walls.

    Being in the presence of people who live very difficult lives yet carry a smile & continue to persevere through adversity. The Holy Spirit’s impact on my life. I am sometimes blown away by it. Mountains~they never cease to leave me speechless in their beauty. I have a visceral response every time & I love it!

    The Grace of the Divine Absolute Being-ness. Specifically the light and the sounds it delicately emanates.

    ‘Grace’ as a word, is commonly used around the subject of God but it doesn’t come anywhere near capturing all the multi- faceted dimensions of Being-ness all occurring simultaneously. So I included “delicate” to hopefully better capture what the experiencing contains.

    “Delicately” …adverb…”in a manner displaying fineness of texture or structure and intricate workmanship”…..

To often, Holy Spirit, one aspect of the Blessed Trinity, is biblically seen as a ‘Spectacular event’ when …in actuality ….it presence ( as empowering, sweeting, enlightening, etc etc ), as it flows through the conduit ….is entirely dependent on the state / conditioning / of that conduit. All human beings express the flow of Holy Spirit / Divine Grace / be it nature, childr...

        To often, Holy Spirit, one aspect of the Blessed Trinity, is biblically seen as a ‘Spectacular event’ when …in actuality ….it presence ( as empowering, sweeting, enlightening, etc etc ), as it flows through the conduit ….is entirely dependent on the state / conditioning / of that conduit. All human beings express the flow of Holy Spirit / Divine Grace / be it nature, children, star gazing, friends and loved ones ..etc, and all are wonderful because we are living Beings of the Divine Trinity …..there is no escaping our AWEsomeness”.

        The SUFi teachings have a very concise expression for this…… “I run from you to YOU “.

    I find lately that nature inspires awe for me. Yesterday was a bright sunny day in my town. In the morning, when the sun rose, the snow sparkled liked diamonds. Later in the day, went X country skiing with my daughter. The bright blue sky and the stunning white snow were breathtaking. Awe-some

    A walk through Central Park at various points throughout the changing seasons and noting the changes. My cats morning routine. Be on a mountain in Eze France and seeing the blue sea. The ocean.

    Watching the sun rise and set. Family gatherings. I am always so grateful to be with family and absolutely love when we can gather together for meals or holidays. Sitting in the ocean on my surfboard. Surfing, of course, is awsome, but just sitting there soaking up the energy of the ocean and air, whether alone or with some surf buddies. Watching the moonrise. Sitting in meditation.

    The common feature is they are unexpected. Show up as a surprise. Can be something simple, like the first time I had shrimp and grits. Was not expecting it to be so amazing!. Niagara Falls, which I had seen myriad pictures of before my first in-person visit, and the approach was shall we say, less than impressive with the denigration of the landscape immediately around in the form of garish amusement arcades and souvenir shops, were unbelievably incredible. Perhaps more so since I was expecting ...
