My definition of aliveness is being. 1 Reply eliza7 months agoelizaLiveliness is the energy that embraces the opportunities of life with passion and enthusiasm …. aliveness is a deep awareness of the wonder and miracle of life in every breath and in the minutae of every moment 1 Reply Ed Schulte7 months agoEd SchulteAliveness…… is the degree of “abundance” one has access to thanks to right living, good works. ( as said in John 10:10) Liveliness…… is the degree to which I lives that ‘abundance’ , openly, with humanity. ( as said Matt 5:14-16 , you [too] are the light of the world….so don’t hide it under a bushel / basket / but rather, let your light shine openly. 2 Reply Malag7 months agoMalagThis is a bit of a dictionary question for me. Brings me down a semantic rabbit hole. 1 Reply Dusty Su7 months agoDusty SuI think that they are both intertwined and yet manifest differently from each other, and from themselves depending on our states of being. They are housed in the body, mind, spirit, emotions, and actions. I have seen dying people so alive. I have seen angry people full of liveliness, but misdirecting it, and others angry directing it as they should. These states are subjective, situational, and come with great ability to create a good or poor quality of life. 3 Reply Don Jones7 months agoDon JonesAliveness is that place beyond the body and beyond the mind. Liveliness is the quality that manifests from aliveness. 5 Reply Melissa7 months agoMelissaMichele I am so sorry for your loss of Josh. It is happening a lot with young people now. Saying I love you often really helps ourselves as well as others. Just like you suggested. Liveliness is when I am so active physically I forget myself and just live in the moment without thinking, Just being. I feel aliveness when is look at the stars and the milky way at night, connecting with nature, Especially trees and wildlife. 2 Reply Michele7 months agoMicheleThank you:) 1 Reply Maeve7 months agoMaeveMany of you have already expressed it well. Liveliness is physical to me: energetic, animated and action-oriented. But there is also a connection between the two: a lively discussion, is one that has depth, vibrancy. Aliveness: being totally present to and aware of each moment, each day, whether we are healthy and active, or bedridden, or even unable to move or speak. What I aspire to be. 5 Reply Michele7 months agoMicheleThis is a difficult question for me today as yesterday my son called me telling me his best friend, Josh, committed suicide. I am shocked and so upset – it was completely unexpected. He was only 30 and there should have been more ‘liveliness’ in him. Life is short. Always tell your loved ones you love them. It goes to show how much people hide themselves from others too. 4 Reply C. Gravelle7 months agoC. GravelleMichele, I am so sorry for your loss, your son's loss as well as Josh's family's loss. Over the years, I have been through this with three friends. Any death of a loved one is heartbreaking, but when it's by suicide, there are also those terribly life-changing questions we pose ourselves: Why? Why didn't I see it coming? What could I have done to help? They burn like a fire in our hearts and spirit, and yet in time, we realize that for the most part, they will remain unanswerable. It’s often at this point that healing will start to take place. Please consider yourself and your son hugged and loved, and know that you are thought of in this time of grief. Suicide is such a beast…. 1 Reply Michele7 months agoMicheleThank you:) 1 Reply Pilgrim7 months agoPilgrimMichele, I am so very sorry for your son’s loss of Josh, and perhaps you, also, if you knew him. So often, there is just no explanation or awareness by others that one is considering this very sad action. I hope that your son is able to find accompaniment as he struggles with his own feelings. 2 Reply Michele7 months agoMicheleThank you:) 1 Reply Maeve7 months agoMaeveSorry to hear about Josh. That is hard. 1 Reply Michele7 months agoMicheleThank you:) 1 Reply Zenith7 months agoZenithGosh! There are so many good descriptions already. I can’t really do better. I would say liveliness is energy expressed, but in a meaningful way such as getting out to watch the sunrise. Aliveness would be watching the sunrise and sunset and then the peace and calm that arises from being centered in what really matters. Love for all creatures. 4 Reply Diana7 months agoDianaAliveness is something that comes from within – a deep sense of being.. Energy is focused in the gut. It is a “feeling”. Liveliness is the outward expression of that “aliveness”. Liveliness is the “action” – the energy expressed outside of oneself. 6 Reply Trish7 months agoTrishI’m totally taking a stab without googling?: Aliveness is soaking up all the goodness that everyday presents to us; the sunrise, the commute to work, all the unique people we encounter, and finding beauty in the chaos. Liveliness is the “pep in your step.” Energy is generated and allows us to demonstrate to ourselves & the world that there is work to be done & we are a part of it all & we will likely be doing it with a smile. 4 Reply Ineke Bennink7 months agoIneke BenninkEr is levendigheid qua bewegingen en er is een levendigheid qua vrolijkheid en kleurrijk 1 Reply Michele7 months agoMicheletranslation There is vibrancy in movements and there is vibrancy in cheerfulness and colorful 1 Reply Katrina7 months agoKatrinaIf Howie, Devy and Kevin wrote a book, I’d buy it. That’s would inspire aliveness and liveliness in me. 4 Reply Michele7 months agoMicheleI would wait for the movie:) 1 Reply Patricia7 months agoPatriciaKatrina, I agree!! 🙂 2 Reply Howie Geib7 months agoHowie GeibBasically anomalous to doing and being. My experience of liveliness is Grand Central Terminal on a weekday morning. People seamlessly navigating the currents and countercurrents of folks moving into their day. That would be liveliness. Aliveness is a quality like an aroma. I remember standing still alone in the midst of Muir Woods amongst the Coastal Redwoods, engulfed in the majesty of life. 5 Reply devy7 months agodevyAliveness is vitality, an awakeness, an awareness, that makes our being-alive joyous. Liveliness is a spirited or energetic quality. Anyone or anything with liveliness is full of excitement, activity and energy. 6 Reply Kevin7 months agoKevin“Aliveness” = Still in existence and active. “Liveliness” = Briskly alert and energetic. “Fact” = This early in the morning, the only difference between aliveness and liveliness is what’s in my coffee cup! 12 Reply My Private Gratitude Journal Write an entry in your private gratefulness journal Get Started This site is brought to you by A Network for Grateful Living, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
