As I read the reflections, my thoughts went to how this mind works- feelings giving rise to a desire to act intentionally in alignment with these emotions and physiological sensations. Thank you for your reflections. I’m hoping that I will be quicker to act in more meaningful ways.

It’s s heartfull feeling to feel gratitude, but living gratefully is consistent action.

Perhaps it is a directional orientation. Inwardly, it is a feeling. Being, it is an outward expression. When the two align, it is an authentic being.

As some wise person has said, we’re human beings, not human doings. I’m always being. What kind of being is happening for me in a given moment, and am I paying enough attention to recognize that? What am I feeling, and am I paying attention to that? As I pay attention to feelings and events and how I am being in the world, that will shift my being. As I’m aware of feeling and being grateful, Future Me is likely more like to move through the world as a grateful being.

Not sure, but as others have written being grateful, feeling grateful is pretty much the same. I am grateful I feel grateful for all my blessings! Thank you Almighty for All…❤️✨

Grateful is thanking the Lord and our life today this is evidence of eternal existence full being his doing what I can to become even more grateful.
For my legs which can walk me to sanctified places for my eyes seeing the sunrise hearing the glorious sounds my nose for smelling free incense smoke coming out from the houses burning wood stoves thanks for my tongue to taste sanctified foods offer to the Lord. He says where there is three I am.. Every word is a song and every step is a dance.

For me, felling grateful is more of a
    present moment thing, whereas being
grateful is more of an orientation.
    Through the practice of gratitude,
I’m hoping to adjust my emotional
    compass to being more grateful.

This morning, everyone has written great responses…My first thought was ..”what does it matter?”….as long as I am grateful and I demonstrate gratefulness.
However; this is always an exercise in thinking beyond…well I try to make it that. Something more than my muddle mind does during my day.
I “feel” gratefulness- it is a great emotion…a kind, and loving feeling. Being grateful, is often more open…speaking of being grateful for your daily life, food, shelter, love…and “showing” gratefulness by sending a card or placing a phone call to say thank you to someone for an act or words. I guess we can feel grateful and demonstrate gratefulness in a myriad of ways. Simpley I am very grateful for this site and for all who come and participate in this space every day or once in a while. Namaste

Feeling grateful is the euphoria you experience when you are given a ‘gift’ (of any sort, even deep breathe). Being grateful is taking that ‘gift’ and sharing it forward and outward.

Feeling grateful would be related to the moment being, being grateful for which is right now, while being grateful would be considered to be a state of being, leading to offering my heart and life´s direction to His Universal Love, which I hereby do.

Feeling grateful is that sense of awe and joy, and being grateful is letting that light shine out into our lives as we go about our days.

Feeling grateful is to appreciate with gratitude for the good fortune I have been bestowed. Being grateful is, for me, a way to live each day with joy of what is in the moment. Being present to enjoy the sky and whatever type of sky it may be at that moment. To enjoy the smile of another. The warmth of a wood fire and that I have wood and a stove. The food I am about to replenish my inner furnace with. A warm shower and the appreciation I have a well with water in it and a water heater to warm it up. My lovely wife Cheryl. My children and their children. My ancestors, for whom without I would not be typing right now. Living my life looking at my capabilities not my circumstances. The list of being grateful is as full of possibilities as there are stars in the night sky if I only open my heart and soul to the wonder of the universe. Not last or least, is the opportunity to participate on these pages with all the other caring folks who reflect on them. Thank you all.

Feeling grateful is an emotion and being grateful is an action. For instance, I can feel grateful that I have ample fresh running water to use and let gallons of it run down the drain. In being grateful I will treat it as the precious resorce it is and not waste it.

What a clear example. Thank you, Butterfly! I realized that I often feel grateful for someone’s response here and yet don’t necessarily take action to demonstrate that more directly.
