Their perspectives, perceptions, struggles, sufferings, challenges, triumphs, humanity, compassion, love, kindness, needs. How i can be kind, loving, helpful, sensitive and uplifting to them; therefore my own being.

The eyes may reveal a person’s true emotions ie: sad, happy etc.

Just looking in the mirror, I can sometimes find myself asking, “who are you?”

First of all, THANK YOU for this question — Just by asking, you set us up for the day with the best attitude!

I have come to understand that so much anger and hostility toward others is rooted in someone’s own fears, their own worries for the future.
Actively practicing compassionate thinking helps me to find peace, and it keeps me from acting like a terrible person!

And whenever I do get the chance to have a meaningful conversation with another human, I love discovering their individuality, their hidden depths, their history, why they became who they are, how they overcome challenges.

Just because I love the practice doesn’t mean I need to love the person, but striving to understand what makes someone who they are gives me the grace to treat them with kindness and dignity.

I don’t know about seeing through the eyes of others but I do relate to seeing with new eyes. I find it wise to take a second look. I do my best to separate facts from feelings. I’m very careful about thinking I can walk in someone else’s moccasins. I prefer to ask them directly “What are your thoughts in this situation?” and/or “What are your feelings in this situation?” It seldom surprises me that many times both they and I get what we are thinking and what we are feeling mixed up!

What is revealed to me is that no one sees the way I do; we all have different perspectives that derive from our own experiences and individual makeup. And with that comes understanding and compassion towards myself and others. For so long, I just assumed people saw things the way I did, and this caused a lot of suffering when their words or actions didn’t align with what I expected or would have done or said. Recognizing we all see things differently and trying to see things from another’s point of view opens the door to being okay with being misunderstood and a knowing I can’t fully understand another. Still, the more open I remain to this, the more I am able to give and receive love.

    When I attempted compassion for
someone that I don’t agree with or
someone that I am in conflict with
or even someone that I revile, I see
their suffering. We all suffer and we
    all react to it differently.

What seems to be revealed is the sameness of my story and the courage to strive for the best life.

I honestly don’t know. These days I need to concentrate on what I am seeing…and bring clarity to my life. I need to see clearly and honestly…and see myself.

Beautiful! Yes, to see ourselves is the most important. Many times we forget to see the one that delivers the one that gives and takes. We forget ourselves in the hurry of the day to day but we must find ourselves, see ourselves to understand our world. Blessings to you as you bring clarity to your life and see your self first.
