When I was in Mexico I was shopping and translated book bag, not only did they misunderstand me but the Americans I was traveling with also did not understand what I was speaking about. BACK PACK was the “universal” word. However because of my previous experience book bag meant back pack for me. Other words that have different means depending the state are: Pop/Soda, Sneakers/Tennis Shoes etc. With that being sad “GRACE” universal meaning is having elegance, however can you have grace without peace? 🙂 Read More0 Reply Howie Geib8 months agoHowie GeibWell first of all. Intentionally veiled. So the question begs a degree of conjecture. I speak of its definitive being. That we speak of it at all is its presence in our lives…its unmistakable effect. And while we do not control it, it is something we must acquiesce to for it to be manifest on our lives on some level. I often write here metaphorically as I am a storyteller. Grace is observable in my opinion. A flurry of birds, hundreds of them alternatively climbing and diving, darting one direction and then another….a school of fish…they are working together (the individual will is secondary to the will of the group) and they are guided by something bigger than them. Grace is the huge guy in the parking lot of Walmart today, turning back to offer to let me pet his puppy, tenderly cradled in his arm. Grace is looking up at the beautiful night sky, and knowing you are not alone, and you are loved. Grace is letting that beauty and love spill over. 7 Reply Lauryn9 months agoLauryn“Grace is the ability to redefine the boundaries of possibility” -Manning Marable 9 Reply Cathie9 months agoCathieGads! Words are inadequate to describe it. This is not “the” definition but from my experience:) It is that gift that allows you to be more than just human. It allows Divine love to flow through you activating your gift of “divinity” and with the consent of your will, allows you to go beyond yourself in experience, thought or action. It can also create a peace in the “soul” when there is turmoil or fear. It is a gift – a form of Divine Love. PS - My hubby walked in and I told him I...Gads! Words are inadequate to describe it. PS – My hubby walked in and I told him I was answering my Gratitude question about what is Grace, and he said “Its me – I AM your Grace” – though trying to be funny I saw some truth in that:) Read More7 Reply Holly in Ohio9 months agoHolly in Ohiohahaha. 🙂 3 Reply Melissa9 months agoMelissaGrace is divine and scared love that is given with no strings attached. Don and SK both said it beautifully. 5 Reply Don Jones9 months agoDon JonesIn my direct experience: The very warp and weft of the weaving of the Divine fabric itself by the Creator; The Creator’s awareness and attention to the detail of this unfolding creation; From the perfection of the invisible through to the swirling of super clusters of galaxies and beyond; The very being – I am here, you are here, we are here. Love. 7 Reply SK9 months agoSKUnmerited, continuous love from God. We cannot earn it, pay it back nor do we deserve it. Yet, there it is every single morning a gift just for us. 11 Reply sb9 months agosbI couldn’t put it any better. Let go & Let God… grace flows from that state and allows us to see and feel the beauty, the blessings, the miracles… all of which there is a great abundance of. Something I don’t always remember, so I appreciate this question today! 7 Reply Roy Howard9 months agoRoy Howard The gift of morning is truly gift. My place in the world at this moment. Where hummingbirds hummm, apples fall ripe, squirrels leap limb to limb, the doe protects the faun grazing near the buck, the last of the tomatoes hang full. So much is unsettling, troubling waters, rising fear, violence near. Yet somewhere – here, now – is calm ordinary beauty and a dearly beloved dog still sleeps. This is grace: undeserved favor. 12 Reply Holly in Ohio9 months agoHolly in OhioVery nice, Roy. 3 Reply Mike S9 months agoMike SWhat is a miracle by grace in action. Once we shift out of every day mind I think we see everything around us is as in some way a Miracle.. For me this is the biggest lesson of this whole gratefulness movement. To see reality with a set of eyes that sees the miraculous and the grace at work in all things. One of my prayers and aspirations is for that mental shift. 9 Reply Ed Schulte9 months agoEd SchulteThe Love of God, expressed through motion guided by the Holy Spirit. ( the feminine aspect of God ) And “motion” is the purpose of every Human being….. “You must Search and find the heavens within you and when you reach this levels, you must work to bring all these blessings from the heavens down to the earth.” 9 Reply Katrina9 months agoKatrinaI cannot improve upon some of the definitions already posted – Dusty Su, EJP, Kevin, Christine, Mary Pat. They are so much more colorful and imaginative, yet real than the seminary definitions. Much more “rubber meets the road”. My addition would be that for me, grace comes from some divine or higher place within us, connected to the Holy Other. 7 Reply Dusty Su9 months agoDusty SuYes, definitely supernatural for me too, bigger than me… it, God/Spirit/Divine Love moves you forward even when you don’t want or think you can step out… 6 Reply Deborah9 months agoDeborahWhat a lovely statement 6 Reply Dusty Su9 months agoDusty SuThank you Deborah… 5 Reply 1 2 Next » My Private Gratitude Journal Write an entry in your private gratefulness journal Get Started This site is brought to you by A Network for Grateful Living, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
