This included trips to the art museum, plays, and symphonies. We also went to sporting events. They have a particular culture of there own to share. We also enjoyed at fairs, bookstores, and camping. 0 Reply reality10 months agorealityKeeping in communication with family and friends, personally. While, as a multi-culturalist, I appreciate and participate in almost any positive cultural, familial, traditional, etc., celebrations, events 🙂 reality 1 Reply Taziz10 months agoTazizI enjoy Eid feasts and get-togethers at relative’s homes. I get to meet my cousins, catch up with them. The food is delish. What more could I ask for? 2 Reply Michele10 months agoMicheleLove your kitty pic:) 1 Reply jessicamomberg10 months agojessicamombergThe cultural and family tradition that I value include special Christmas dinners and Easter spent with my diverse, fun and crazy family. 2 Reply Mica10 months agoMicaMy son’s Sunday night dinners are especially wonderful during this lockdown! None of us is working outside the home, so he and his family welcome me over, wanting me only to wash my hands as soon as I arrive. And I get to spend time there with my 2 granddaughters! 3 Reply Hot Sauce10 months agoHot SauceI love celebrating Christmas! On Christmas Eve, we go to church and have a beautiful candlelight service (the second to last verse of "Silent Night," sung a capella, combined with the mystical light of the candles, always gives me goosebumps!).Then, we go home and eat all kinds of homemade snacks and watch a Christmas story. In the morning, of course, we open our presents (which still say “From Santa To _” because we still like to imagine the old man and his magical reindeer exists. Once we’ve opened our presents, we either go to Colorado Springs to go to the annual family Christmas party or, if we get snowed in, we stay at home and mess with our presents all day and continue eating leftover snacks from the night before. Through all this, I remember and celebrate the Messiah’s coming, both as the historical Jesus and the inner Messiah-light, and remember that the coming of Jesus and the inner Messiah allows us to have new life and participate in an ongoing process of spiritual growth initiated by the esoteric knowledge Jesus and the inner Messiah-light bring. We dressed up this year for my nephews; I was Annabelle, and she was Annabelle’s mother. Halloween is also my favourite time of the year. I am very happy that Halloween is on a Saturday this year. 3 Reply Michele10 months agoMicheleHalloween is my favorite holiday too! 1 Reply kds61810 months agokds618I’ll be honest, I mostly like it because its a holiday I can still celebrate by myself without the stress of SOME family members 😛 0 Reply TeriB10 months agoTeriBThe Italian Christmas Eve tradition of the Feast of the Seven Fishes. Although it takes over a week to prepare all the fish and food it is a wonderful evening with family and friends. 3 Reply Katrina10 months agoKatrinaAn annual family gathering for vacation or retreat, during which we spend at least 3 consecutive days together…measuring the grandkids heights, traveling together for a day or week, cooking together, having a girls’ day, boys’ day, mom’s day, dad’s day, games, songs, prayers…this is my favorite. 4 Reply slawrence10 months agoslawrenceCooking a special dish like corn pudding or yam casserole on Thanksgiving Day. Now matter what financial challenges we have at the time, we can come up with something that evokes old memories and creates new ones. 2 Reply Rachel10 months agoRachelI love Christmas. Especially the decorating of the tree. Each ornament has a story and as we gather to hang them we celebrate with joyful music to laugh, remember and create together. Now not every year is so bright but the tradition anchors us in meaning and connection no matter what is happening within our family, with our friends or in the world around us. 5 Reply Tahsin Tabassum10 months agoTahsin TabassumEid ul fitr and Eid ul adha – the Muslim religious holidays 6 Reply Michele10 months agoMicheleMy answer is the same as last year. We always waited until Christmas morning for any gift exchange – the anticipation and waiting was hard but so cherished today. 4 Reply devy10 months agodevyGrowing up in an English based culture, m’y mother was German. We were the only family in a small town who celebrated Christmas or Weihnachten on Christmas Eve. We would have a big meal followed by opening of presents. When I married my wife is French Canadian who follow the same tradition I continue my childhood….. 3 Reply 10 months agoOn holidays, we all get together and share a meal and time together as an extended family. Our family has also just started a monthly zoom meeting which has been very enjoyable. It is a great opportunity to visit with each other when we cannot physically be in one place. 4 Reply Kevin10 months agoKevinAre folks at Gratefulness aware of what I think is a glitch in the system here? Today’s questions, which has been asked a year or so ago, is adding today’s entries onto what all of us responded to the last time that this question was asked! Kind of funny, actually, and enjoyable to read what we all responded to previously! 1 Reply Saoirse10 months agoSaoirseHi Kevin, Yes! We are aware of this glitch. This particular question was in a "pending" file and surprised us here this morning - sorry about that! Also, you may have noticed, occasionally two questions appear. Our system if full of surprises! That said, many of the questions recycle (like you mention in your comment below) and that is purposeful. We recognize that we all change over time so the questions can elicit a fresh response after some time has passed. We also add new questions regularly...Hi Kevin, Yes! We are aware of this glitch. We love that you have been participating in this practice for 5 years and are finding opportunities to consider questions more thoroughly and deeply. Lovely. Thank you all for your patience! Maybe they’re running out of questions to ask? 1 Reply Saoirse10 months agoSaoirseHi Michele, As Kevin guessed, we have a glitch in our system that did pull in a few questions (along with answers) from last year. That said, we have lots of new questions mixed in with "recycled" ones so you will continue to see questions repeated (but hopefully without earlier responses included!). Our hope is that repeated questions will elicit fresh responses and, as Kevin remarks below, invite you to engage the question more deeply than you might have first time around.
