On this inauguration day in America, I am drawn to these words from Fr. Richard Rohr: “I invite you to continue practicing some form of contemplative prayer this year. Our problems begin when we fight reality, push it away, or insist that the way I “see” reality, from my own limited perspective, is the only valid reality. Any contemplative practice that serves to welcome life as it is will change us. We will dive into this “unveiled”—and even unpleasant—reality positively and preemptively, saying, “Come God, and teach me your good lessons.” We need such a practice to lessen our resistance to change and our tight grasp around things. Let us seek to pray this way for as long as it takes us to arrive at a full “Yes” to Reality. Only then can its lessons come through to us.” Richard Rohr, Daily Meditation, Jan 8, 2021 Read More7 Reply Mike S3 months agoMike SOn a personal level I am in the process of healing and transformation and expect that to unfold this year. For my country I trust that with our new administration we will see some peace, calm, and hope and perhaps some reconciliation. On the world stage I hope to see some real progress on fighting climate change as well as and improvement with our international relations. 7 Reply Holly in Ohio3 months agoHolly in OhioWell said! I second that! 🙂 1 Reply Trish3 months agoTrishCertainly I hope & long for a peaceful country/world. For my person, I long for a part-time job that is meaningful & will offer me more time to feed my spiritual tank. It’s calling out (& not so quietly) for more. 7 Reply sunnypatti3 months agosunnypattiI hope for better health for the world, for the medical experts to get a true handle on CoVid. I hope to travel safely again so we can plan a honeymoon for the fall. I hope to take bigger steps to get out of the corporate world. I hope for peace. I hope people around the world will learn to love more and extend that love to all beings everywhere. 7 Reply Craig K3 months agoCraig KToday is Inauguration Day in the US. That God will heal the divisions in this country. That God will also awaken me to realize a lasting inner peace. 8 Reply Michele3 months agoMicheleI hope to be able to travel again and visit my family. My brother bought a cabin a year ago and I would love to see it. I want to go to my favorite October camping state park. In almost 52 yrs I’ve never been to Cape May, NJ – been to Ocean City, Wildwood, Atlantic City, Beechhaven, but not there. Yes, definitely longing to travel again. 6 Reply Lioness3 months agoLionessI have hopes for my three older nieces, that this year brings them happiness, stability and a light to guide them on their new journey. I have hope that my baby sister will be able to marry, I have hope that my brother’s life settles for him and becomes filled with opportunity. I long for a world where people see each other for what we all are, the same, human beings that ought to love and respect one another. But until then I will do my best to work on me and bring hope to others. 7 Reply Kevin3 months agoKevinSustainable peace around the world and an easing of political tensions in my own country. 9 Reply « Previous 1 2 My Private Gratitude Journal Write an entry in your private gratefulness journal Get Started This site is brought to you by A Network for Grateful Living, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
