Mike1 year agoMikeOddly enough, I need a command from Jesus to get curious and stay curious: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Otherwise, I’m far too content to stay in my own head, preoccupied with my disengaged and ungrounded speculations about the world and the people in it. The command, at least, gives me a goal toward which which I might apply myself, and the impetus to gather the information required to pursue it. 0 Reply Ose1 year agoOsecurrently, I don´t know. Hope to be able to reply to it later. A lovely weekend to all. 2 Reply Malag1 year agoMalagFollowing my curiosity is a feed back loop for me. Curiosity is my constant companion because I’ve followed it so many times and grown as result. I try lots of things and go down many rabbit holes. I hope on my death bed (if I’m fortunate to have one) that my companion is still there right when I shed this mortal coil an event itself that is a pretty curious one I have to admit. 2 Reply Val DeBruno1 year agoVal DeBrunoWanting to know. I do get sidetracked sometimes into anger when it might be better to be curious instead. 3 Reply Linda1 year agoLindaI read much less of the news online now, and I read interesting articles and look at websites that teach me new things. 2 Reply Lauryn1 year agoLaurynTravel. I sat in my little chair next to hers as she told me stories and took me on verbal trips, describing what we were seeing. The “big” trip was going to Idaho (!) which was about the farthest she had traveled herself…. From then on, I always loved maps and traveling and learning about people and places. 7 Reply Mike S1 year agoMike SPaying attention. I guess it was a bit abstruse… you’d have to be in my head to understand without elaboration! So… I was reflecting on today’s question while I was plugging something into one of the hubs on my desk that connect computers, a monitor, my phone etc and I was thinking about the word “hub”, which didn’t have the meaning of being a hardware connecting device not so many years ago, and I got to a hub being the centre of a wheel, and how the spokes go out in many directions. Or a focal point (hub)of interest that leads to a new hub of interest and the different directions that takes me – to a new hub etc etc etc. And that’s why I love the internet and that helps me stay curious! And I think about my place on the planet, with myself as a hub with the focal point under my feet. From there I can pivot and look 360 degrees around me to all those possible horizons. And if I choose to move to another spot, I am standing on a different point and can have a new 360 degrees of horizons. And so I get to us all being People of the Sun and the glyph for that in astrology ⨀ That’s me in the middle being a hub! Observant so as to see but not seek. I try to live my questions instead of waiting for answers. I pray for wisdom in all situations and for the ability to respond not react to life. This question reminds me of John Michael Talbot’s recording of The St. Theresa Prayer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKKALl6kv1U and a quote from The Little Flower: https://i.etsystatic.com/6435290/r/il/7fe483/1915374409/il_1588xN.1915374409_11h7.jpg 5 Reply Toni1 year agoToniHi Carol, Since you know about St. Theresa and how she answers with roses I'd like to share an experience I had with her. My mother had lung cancer and I prayed for through St. Theresa to be cured and thought she got the answer from God as no. That same day when I thought that I found a pair of Armani gloves with red roses on them. I called my mother to tell her and at that very moment the fragrance of roses filled her house. My sister was there as well. She went to the doctor and he said there was no trace of cancer. Of course he thought she was in remission. I thought otherwise. She succumbed to his request for further chemo in case there were lingering cells in her brain and that killed her. I knew in my heart she didn’t need any more chemo but I could not convince her. There are forces beyond our control that do intercede for us if we have the faith. I am fully convinced of that and of the benefit of practicing “the little way”. I love all the St. Teresa’s! Terese of Avilla is my new favorite. I still have a ways to go to with Entering the Castle by Mirabai Starr and the other version by Caroline Myss. I start and stop with that one. It is very heavy. I’m more interested in the Castle and will explore it with my spiritual director soon when we get to meet face to face.
