Misty1 year agoMistyA kind and thoughtful message from a friend, who I know has a very full and busy life, but made the time to reach out to me. 2 Reply Malag1 year agoMalagDiscovering about the many people in non-profits devoting time to environmental issues from rewilding to re-using. Truly inspiring. 3 Reply Anna1 year agoAnnaCreativity and knowledge of people who love their work. I meet many of these people every day. It’s rightly inspiring and at the same time it’s a reminder not to complain. 4 Reply Jeannette Rojas Monserratte1 year agoJeannette Rojas MonserratteMy third lesson on Buddhism, with Mexican professor Jesús Cabrera, where we talked about what is Happiness and the importance of being grateful at all times in order to be happy. Also, one of the things that stayed echoing in my mind was Shakyamuni Buddha teaching that “the best of the good deeds to pursue happiness is to listen to the teachings of Buddhism”. 4 Reply Samuel1 year agoSamuelMy first practice session with our Bryson City United Methodist Church Glory Strings Players group. I’m learning to play the Autoharp with a group of friends who play dulcimer, guitar, fiddle, banjo, and violin in church and by invitation at other special local events. I cannot imagine life without music, which I believe is proof that God loves us, and am so blessed to be invited to be part of this group… ❤️🙏🏻 6 Reply dcdeb1 year agodcdebThe consciousness of my ex husband seemed to expand a little bit 3 Reply Dusty Su1 year agoDusty SuEvery night just before I drop off to sleep, I send love as a gift to myself into the next day. Each morning, as I sit and drink the first sip of coffee, I pick it up. The first sip of hot strong coffee and here I am responding to this question and love is inspiring me. 11 Reply Nelson1 year agoNelsonThank you for the great idea! 3 Reply Dusty Su1 year agoDusty SuI read it somewhere and have loved it since 😍 2 Reply Holly in Ohio1 year agoHolly in Ohiogosh! These questions given by the Gratefulness-team have inspired me today and will for a while. So grateful to meet these questions inside and together with friends. 4 Reply Don Jones1 year agoDon JonesThe wonder of my breath. I feel the rise and fall. I hear the quiet passage through my nostrils. I sense the energy within my body with each breath. Yet it is invisible. Unable to be grasped. And if it stops, then I leave. What a wonderful, gracious, moment-by-moment gift! 4 Reply sb1 year agosbOn my usual daily walk I decided today to take photos of all the flowers I saw. I thought I knew all the flowers around here but this way I saw so many more, realised the differences between some I thought were the same, noticed differences in distribution, timing of flowering….and their amazing beauty. what a wonderful way to start the day. 6 Reply Toni1 year agoToniWhat inspires me is to have another chance to begin again today with pleasure in simple things. 6 Reply Elaine1 year agoElaineMy dear friend who is living into a serious cancer diagnosis. In the midst of making decisions about treatment she is her usual excited self about our in person visit and doing the fun stuff we enjoy. Like swimming in a lake, a bike ride, gathering for dinner with friends. 7 Reply Linda1 year agoLindaThe beautiful sunny day outside just waiting for me to do my daily walk. 7 Reply Lauryn1 year agoLaurynLiving in the Bay Area waking up to mornings with an apparent grey sky and sitting outside slowly watching the fog melt away and give way to a blue sky. 5 Reply GregC1 year agoGregCThe beautiful 70s degree weather! 4 Reply Sondra1 year agoSondraI was inspired by reading the daily questions from previous days. The one about resilience reminded me of the saying, “Fall down seven times, get up eight,” the Japanese proverb: “Nana korobi ya oki” (literally: seven falls, eight getting up) (七転び八起き) It’s inevitable that we prevail if we just stand up. That’s all. We don’t have to first know what we’ll “do” after getting up, or be overwhelmed in advance. Just. Get. Up. 7 Reply Carol1 year agoCarolI was washing out the bird bath which sits under a very large tree in my back yard. A young squirrel came racing around the trunk, stopped looked me in the eye and began watching my cleaning operation. He was so close to me that I could see his little chest heaving rapidly. I’m sure he had frozen in place out of fear at our encounter. I said, “It’s alright, Buddy. You have nothing to fear from me.” And he proceeded to race on up into the tree branches. I’m pretty sure he got my message! 8 Reply Sondra1 year agoSondraCarol, I love the image of your talking to the little guy! I talk to nature all the time…my aquarium fish, my flowers… 3 Reply Nelson1 year agoNelsonI was walking my dogs. Cody is the black one and Calvin is the brown one. The neighborhood was quiet. The air was fresh and the weather was cool. We took our time. We paused, and they just wanted their bellies rubbed. They looked at me, and smiled. It got me thinking – I used to work so hard to find freedom, serenity, connection, happiness. You know what … Those things have been here this whole time. Realizing I already have those things, right now in the present, got me inspired. I exhaled,...I was walking my dogs. Cody is the black one and Calvin is the brown one. The neighborhood was quiet. I haven’t seen jackdaws for years and here were three of them right outside the window. I put out sunflower seeds and dried mealworms every day and get so much pleasure from seeing “my” birds coming down to grab what they can while it’s there. It’s my special connection with nature as I can no longer get out into the garden and get my hands properly dirty. 3 Reply Michele1 year agoMicheleI had to google them … what eyes they have! 2 Reply Holly in Ohio1 year agoHolly in OhioThat is so nice, Butterfly! My neighbor puts a handful of peanuts-in-the-shell out every morning, and it attracts Blue Jays. It is his morning ritual, but I get to enjoy it, too! 🙂 3 Reply Neil1 year agoNeilWaking earlier than usual and seeing a spectacular sunrise over the mountains, feeling the cool air of morning before it heats up and the quiet peaceful splendor of it all. 6 Reply 1 2 Next » My Private Gratitude Journal Write an entry in your private gratefulness journal Get Started This site is brought to you by A Network for Grateful Living, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
