I don´t know if recent experiences offer a new perspective. Doing my best to be honest and to share joy and pain when possible hopefully does.

Talking to friends and family always help me figure out perspectives in a challenging situation. Of course I am dealing with a crucial situation with my daughter right now so that weighs heavily on my mind (experience).

Catching up with my old friends gives me a new perspective on life and situations. It’s beautiful and interesting to see what paths people have taken and the reasoning behind them.

I found that using this journal each and every morning upon awakenning. In realizing that life is eternal… I have been given a choice which is the core element of cognitive behavioral therapy, to either see this day as an opportunity for achieving what I had set out to accomplish, either positive or negative forgetting about the dreaming adventures and in touch with my five senses and narrative.

I have been thrust into a situation that has forced me to see beyond my perimeters.

The fear and anxiety that are pervading these times leaves me seeking new perspectives on the importance of reinvigorating the social safety net to ameliorate the commodification of essentials for live and living.

I can’t give you a specific date for when I realized that Life is trustworthy but I can tell you that it gifted me with a new perspective. As Eckhart Tolle says in his book, “A New Earth,” “Life is the Dancer and you are the Dance.” If I’m the Dance then how I relate and support the Dancer determines the choreography. I’ve decided it’s best to go with the flow. I find it results in a much more gracious/grace-filled Dance.

I share two other quotes that have been helpful to me and my perspective on the mystery I call Life.
In his book, “Dark Night of the Soul,” John of the Cross says, “A person who can see a little bit will resist guidance; a person who cannot see at all will stretch forth their hands and be led to unknown places where they don’t know how to go.”

Buddhist teacher Jack Kornfield in his book, “A Path with Heart,” asks “What do we know for sure?”

I say, “Let’s let the Dancer lead!

The smile on my lovely wife Cheryl’s face when I greet her in the evening with a kiss and there is no odor of alcohol. It has lent a new perspective on abstinence to me.

Wow!! How powerful! How wonderful to realize the intimate impact of alcohol. As a daughter of an alcoholic I just remember the smell that I was so aware as a child and then as an adult. Thank you for sharing!

Unfortunately, there’s another one of those hidden “musts” in today’s question that allows no wiggle room for those, including myself, who are fresh out of a new perspective. Maybe one will pop up today, tomorrow, or next week!

One current significant experience is approaching in mid May, my 65th birthday. Though my college studies in the mid 1980’s included certification in Gerontology, I feel like I’m beginning to view a sliver of a new moon approaching. It’s a beautiful moon—glimmering and Mystical, bringing a depth of Gratitude in my heart. Destructive behaviors in my early 20’s nearly took me out of the game. Grace of desperation and guidance by Spirit (Sophia) led me to spiritual-awakenings and onto a path of being willing to let go of old ideas and become willing to grow along spiritual lines. I’m Blessed in ways I never knew were possible.
