In warmer months I get to the garden early every day. I begin by observation. I walk the rows and look for changes: any sign that a rabbit got in through the fence, the first blush on a tomato, some seedlings poking their heads through the soil. My family always shared dinners together, and these days it's just my husband and I but we catch up on our days. My family always shared dinners together, and these days it’s just my husband and I but we catch up on our days. Then we continue talking while we do the dishes by hand. There are other everyday happenings that if I pay more attention I could see them as things to cherish. Recently I started exercising as part of my plan to improve my self care. A little shift in attitude and I could enjoy it more as “me” time rather than a chore to make sure I do! I think I will go for that today! 😊 Read More8 Reply Mica10 months agoMicaWell, Holly, if your exercise does become more ‘me’ time, do let me know how you made that transition! 3 Reply Patricia10 months agoPatriciaLike so many of you mentioned already this morning –just waking up, hearing my husband take the dog out, making the coffee, making the bed, sitting here with the coffee and focusing on gratitude and the coming day… small things that are so precious and comforting. 6 Reply Mica10 months agoMicaMaking the bed, Patricia – wow, congrats! 3 Reply Maurice Frank10 months agoMaurice FrankStaying in bed a while after I wake up, my morning coffee, sitting quietly in the dark for a few minutes before I go to bed. 5 Reply devy10 months agodevyI cherish my first sip of coffee, the dawn as the horizon lightens up to greet me, my morning meditation, prayers ritual that I’ve adopted over the past couple of years, the ability to be active in my older age, having food on the table, being retired and having the opportunity to do what I want, when I want 6 Reply Michele10 months agoMicheleI cherish my morning routine of coming on this website, reading the daily question and everyone’s reflections. It grounds me. My daughter flies in today and I’m on vacation all next week. I am soooo excited! I haven’t seen her in 10 months. Looking forward to some quality family time together:) 7 Reply Pilgrim10 months agoPilgrimMy "everyday" happenings or rituals right now are fairly short, as I prepare to move in a few weeks. So I stick with my morning ritual/s as best I can. Put on the coffee, take the meds, put on the music, check favorite sites, read (a non-negotiable), add in breakfast, plan the day, as best as it can be planned in this whirlwind. Watching the sun come up, peeking thru any clouds that may be hovering. Drinking coffee while I sit and do my morning practice. Getting love from and playing with our dog and cat. Sharing life, love and lessons with my husband. Getting daily exercise of some sort. Interacting with my team at work. Laughing as much as possible! 7 Reply Kevin10 months agoKevinEveryday happenings are the “juice and joy” of life itself! For me, it’s here: Family, and grandchildren in my life throughout the week. Living alongside my wife and life partner of 49 years. Rowing with my team at sunrise in the harbor. Practicing my faith and being within a spiritual community. 10 Reply Holly in Ohio10 months agoHolly in Ohio49 years… impressive! 4 Reply Christine10 months agoChristineEvery day I play the piano, I go for a walk. I have a room in the house where I can meditate. I love to sit on the couch in the conservatory with cozy thick socks and a blanket over me and read a book. Waving to the neighbors is also part of my everyday activity that I enjoy. These are some nice things I mentioned. Oh and of course…I love to read your answers here. What a privilege to receive so much openness from all of you. 14 Reply « Previous 1 2 My Private Gratitude Journal Write an entry in your private gratefulness journal Get Started This site is brought to you by A Network for Grateful Living, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
