It is hard to imagine how I could be more grateful than I a right now. I so appreciate and give thanks for my husband, my dog, my home, the kind and loving people in my life, the good food I eat, and for life itself.

I appreciate the sunny day, my husband and friends, and the beginning of my Christmas card making (Yes, I start early as I make a lot to give to nursing homes). I love being immersed in the colors and the many special embellishment options that I have collected over the years to create my one of a kind cards. Pure joy!

My wife is a Christmas baby Linda. Born on the 25th of December. She really enjoys that time of year now but was disappointed when she got to and early age of reason and realized all the surrounding hub-hub was not all for her!

Today, I will take the time to fully appreciate my family and friends; we are camping in a beautiful spot on the beach so it is much easier to appreciate everything really. Getting away from the hustle and hustle of everyday life is such a nice reset. I am especially appreciating my son & the progress he has made. He has autism, and it has been quite the journey so far. However, he has grown so much and is so happy right now. I am proud and full of love.

Life. Safety. I passed a possibly fatal bicycle accident earlier today on my way to the store. On my way home, emergency vehicles continued to arrive on the scene. Lots of teens gathered in the area.

Came back to drop a link to this poem by Barbara Crooker that invites us to appreciate the everyday things. https://poetrying.wordpress.com/2016/03/03/all-that-is-glorious-around-us-barbara-crooker/

The beautiful weather we’re supposed to have today in my corner of the Pacific NW. No more wildfire smoke, rain of a couple of days ago has passed through and washed everything clean, sun is shining. I don’t take beautiful days for granted anyway but I can make sure I get out in the day to feel it all around me.
The strength of my body also comes to mind. Instead of thinking about what it can’t do, I can focus on what it can do as I try to get back into a yoga practice habit that has come and gone and come again over many years.

My air conditioned home came immediately to mind with all the heat and humidity that plagues the country. So many are homeless due to storms, fires and flooding. Also, war dominates many lives. When will we ever learn?

I spend a fair amount of time
appreciating what’s around me. I have
so much to be grateful for. I could pay
more attention and appreciate this path
    that I’m currently on.
It’s coming up on four years since my life
changed. A lot has happened since I gave
    up, surrendered, and stopped resisting.
The quote this morning is a perfect example.
I just finished reading “The Alchemist” and
I’m trying to digest the deeper meaning of
this beautiful story. Also, I read this
yesterday, and it fits right in with this theme.

“A traveler came to the gates of a new city
and asked the gatekeeper, “What kind of
people live here?” The gatekeeper answered
with a question of his own, “What kind of
people lived in the city you just came from?”
The traveler replied, “They were mostly a
    cantankerous lot, greedy and self-centered.”
The gatekeeper answered, “I expect you will
find the people here just the same.” Soon
after, another traveler met the gatekeeper
and asked the same question. Again the
gatekeeper asked, “How did you find the
residents of the city you visited last?”
    The traveler answered enthusiastically,
    “They were warm and hospitable;
truly a fine group of people.” The
    gatekeeper responded, “I expect you
will find these folk just the same.”

I can cultivate a better appreciation of other people. I tend toward categorization and critique, rather than recognizing that they are simply themselves in all their glory and regrets. Just as I am.

I will appreciate just being alive …what a gift it is. We (I) take my life for granted at times. Today, I will try to focus on my life..each step that I have taken and will take (hopefully). I will pray that in some small way I have made a difference..

RIP Jimmy Buffett. I can appreciate his music today. I was not a ‘parrothead’, more of a metal and Grateful Dead, however, I feel the loss of this one for sure.

Thanks Michele! I was just thinking about him, too, and already pulled up Jimmy Buffet radio to play at work today! Sure could use some surf like that, but at least I finally got put before the storm this past week 🌊
      RIP Jimmy 🙏🏼

The space that I occupy on this earth at this time and my unique point of view. No-one else can see the world through my eyes or feel what I feel in this body. I am a one-off! As, indeed, is each one of us. What a privilage to be here right now, even when things get very difficult.
