To thank God for all the Blessings I receive. I bless Gratitude as my master virtue, here and now. However, my life is ridiculously busy and I have often had no time to stop, think, reflect. I read a book by someone who had spent a year exploring gratitude and found it inspiring. I meant to keep a diary myself but it never seemed to happen. Then, this year, I came across “fit mind 50” in a magazine and my mum and I decided to sign up for it – 50 new and positive things this year. So I made gratitude/reflection one of my 50 things, googled it and came up with this. What a joy it has been – not just for me but also inspiring some very deep and meaningful conversations with family. I love reading other people’s comments and many resonate with me. What fascinates me is that many people refer to their troubles but never in a negative way, which is something lovely to read – but I wonder – are people more willing to admit to issues here than out loud? Is that why there are so many of us referring to problems here? Or is it that people trying to lighten their burdens are more likely to take time to google and find a site like this? Why ever it is, hopefully each and everyone of you can take heart that your contributions help those of us reading them. Read More5 Reply Misty1 month agoMistyInteresting question. I think it might be a combination of a receptive and supportive community, not feeling you are burdening others by sharing your own challenges, and less chance of being hurt by someone responding (or not responding) in a certain way when you do share. It’s a somehow a mix of closeness and anonymity. 2 Reply Vincent-Edward Ciliberti1 month agoVincent-Edward CilibertiThe concept of sharing my thoughts with other good people. 3 Reply Pilgrim1 month agoPilgrimI received an e-card from a friend, and decided to check out the site. I have come here daily since. 4 Reply Melissa1 month agoMelissaHope brought me here. It is so helpful to me to read all of your thoughts, wisdom and experiences that soothe my soul during this challenging time. To connect with you all so I become aware of all that I am truly grateful for. 6 Reply Lauryn1 month agoLaurynI was working at a large law firm in Boston- it was fast paced, competitive, stressful work. One of the quieter more reserved attorneys on our team decided to leave the firm for a less stressful position as outside counsel to a healthcare company. On her last day she wrote a goodbye message to the team and included the ‘word for the day’ in her message — that led me to this site about 4 years ago. 7 Reply 1 month agoI have been writing in a private gratitude journal on this site for several years. I have occasionally come to this more public place for sharing, but not regularly. This site is an amazing resource and is so encouraging that I feel healthy enough now to add my voice to others. I was brought here by love and stay here through committed practice. There is value in community and I love the wisdom and acceptance that I see here. 8 Reply Michele1 month agoMicheleThat’s awesome:) 0 Reply John Tamminga1 month agoJohn TammingaIt feels like I was guided here and personally had little to do with it. Next came the Grateful Day video and then the Daily Question and all your responses. That began a year ago and has become my first-thing-in-the-morning go to since.
