How could we begin to disentangle ourselves from any part of the One in whom we live and move and have our being? Caring for my environment. 2 Reply VicValz211 month agoVicValz21I show gratitude by pampering myself and meeting my wants and doing what i love most. And sometimes I simply say “thank you”. 1 Reply Holly in Ohio1 month agoHolly in OhioThere are so many ways we can express gratitude! Today, my husband and I shop for our daughter’s birthday and her first apartment, but we are shopping second hand first, at a Habitat for Humanity ReStore. This will help her, but also the planet, and people we don’t know get into homes. Gratitude can be expressed in words, but it can also be expressed in our actions, just by trying to be thoughtful, sometimes by helping. Doing it this way is a way of expressing gratitude for people I don’t even know personally, and for nature and creatures, but it would be an empty world without them. I do my best to be kind, open minded and willing to go with the flow and remember that everyone and everything belongs. That said. I refuse to be a doormat. I speak up when I think my voice will help. I find that when I feel I have to speak, I need to step back and identify if my motivation is love based or fear based. Intention is so important. There are times when I just need to keep my mouth shut! 4 Reply carol1 month agocarolhmm- my mind went to how I approached gratitude in response to receiving an act of generosity that was an expression of giver’s valuing my well being as worthy of giving their knowledge, skills and talent, competences and resources in dental care. I’m hoping I was successful in expressing this and my happiness, and my relief, in my thank you. Interestingly another outcome of this experience was the deepening of the experience of receiving. And a lesson on how supporting a public health insurance program that included dental would enhance a sense of living in a safe, caring community. And that this would be an expression of — may I be healthy, may you be healthy. Read More2 Reply Mary Pat1 month agoMary PatI am more open to others, kinder in all areas of my life. Giving people more time and not being in such a rush is a gift to myself and others. It is an act of patience that I really want to practice that I think is needed in our lives. We are always in such a hurry. I remember the saying, “I’ll sleep when I’m dead” being acceptable, and it is wrong. It just adds more stress to our lives. With this attitude there is no time for expressing gratitude, let alone being grateful. I am really trying my best to work on this. I also started a Good and Great jar. I have one on both floors in our home. I try, every night to write down something good or great that happened on that day, fold up the paper, stuff it in one of the jars, and then, at the end of the year, I am going to open every one of them and read them. Sometimes I have to go back because the day has been so busy, or on that night I can’t remember anything, but the next day or the day after that, I DO remember something and add it. This has helped me-on some challenging days-remember that there was something good or great in every day. It has been easier than journaling for me on some days because it takes less time. I appreciate him vacuuming and I appreciate him building my raised garden beds. In the world, by thanking people for their service or kindness or for wearing something beautiful that I can compliment, which is a form of gratitude. When I say “I love your scarf!” I’m expressing gratitude for their choice to wear it that day and to bring that color into my life and the lives of others around them.
