A dearest friend of mine and my Mother’s for many many years. She is in her 80’s. She told me she was mailing me a check so I could buy some gifts for my daughter. Well she sent me way more then she said. She knew my last minute trip to Florida for my daughter’s surgery was an expense. Her son owns a huge health Club in PA and he has her on his payroll and she tells me there is not way she needs all that money. She is always thoughtful supportive and caring.

Btw, today I received a card of thanks from my daughter and it arrived on her Birthday. Such a surprise and gift on this day : )

I love that your daughter sent you a card for her birthday! You did the work on that day all those years ago. Wonderful that she recognizes that and thanks you.

It is an abundant universe. I feel but a tiny speck attached to a grain of sand, transversing the enormity of space. It seems though (well to me anyway), that this incredible happening is held together by Love. A generosity and Grace and Desire that I cannot understand but can experience with an awareness and live into through faith.

A dear friend knew I was going through a tough time and purchased me a book and hand delivered it even though he had an important drs appointment to get to. God is so good!

I believe I experience it each day with air to breathe, light to see, darkness to sleep with, food to eat, a choice of clothing, and etc.
A friend offered yarn to help with a project, a clerk offered her time to see how my day was going, medical staff offered to get me what I needed for comfort, and a friend offered to go to lunch.
I experience generosity in so many ways.

I am very grateful for all that my daughter does for me. She takes me shopping or anywhere I need to go these days – shopping, medical appointments, etc. I had not driven at all since my fall a few months back. One day recently, I found myself very low on my medications, so I decided to take the short drive to the pick-up location. It went fine, as I went early and picked up at the window. But I was somewhat terrified to be taking this drive, and especially without mentioning it to my daughter because it was early in the day. The whole thing went fine, and the area was not busy or crowded. But it “took it out of me” for the rest of the day. My next drive will be to the beach about a mile down the road, but I am waiting for warmer days to begin. Have a beautiful day, Friends!

My daughter and I recently made a generous clothes/shoes donation to Goodwill with my step-mothers belongings. She had very nice clothes and shoes and I know someone will love and get good use out of them.

I’m glad the question says “experienced” instead of “received”. Earlier this week I commented on the Buddhist tenet of interdependence, “Buddhism teaches that everything in the world is interconnected. The Buddha [utilized] the term “interdependence” to describe this state of profound connectedness. It is the nature of reality, human life, all things, and all situations.” On a personal level, I experienced the generosity of my very dear friend who has been supporting another friend emotionally and financially through their addiction recovery journey. She had to make a difficult decision to cease providing financial aid until her friend makes some major changes. But, she will continue to be generous with her love and compassion. I was amazed at her patience and grace.

“It’s remarkable that people believe what’s needed is more punishment. If punishment worked there wouldn’t be any addiction. It’s a punishing enough experience.”

Avril, I am glad your dear friend is generous with her love and compassion towards another friend in need of love and kindness.

The generosity of my next door neighbors is a constant gift in my life. Also, this site and the daily question regulars who so generously share their vulnerability, their love and their wisdom. Thank you all for enriching my life. Today’s quote from Michelle Obama reminds me that Life can sometimes be very challenging and hard to understand but it can be trusted. Yes, “The unknown is where possibility glitters.”

I have been experiencing generosity each and every evening when I read the days reflections to the question of the day. The kindness, compassion, acceptance, non-judgement, inclusivity of the thoughts shared here always contain the generosity of so many. I am grateful I discovered this safe place full of folks who are generous not only with their wisdom and kindness but with their collective love of life and the love of other beings of the earth.

Thank you for your generosity Joseph. You are an example of humility, I thank you for all your honest sharing and the wisdom that comes with it. Your post the other day about lost by tragic events was so moving. I am coming out of the fog of loosing a loved one 18 months ago, I feel that I can finally breathe so I can move forward. I thank all of you in this group that share their wisdom, it touches my heart for sure.

Avril, your words remind me of the importance of being willing to be instruments of Divine Generosity or as my late husband would say, “God needs you.”
