What we do with this is up to us, our choice. 5 Reply Kristi1 year agoKristiEnjoy the little moments, for one day you will look back and they will be the big moments. 7 Reply Trish1 year agoTrishSo true…. 3 Reply GratefulOne1 year agoGratefulOneThere is something to be learned from every experience : positive or negative. 6 Reply ryanmopo1 year agoryanmopoDon’t apologize for being yourself. 8 Reply Melissa1 year agoMelissaWhat would love have me do today? My spiritual teacher taught me to say that out loud to myself to start my day. 6 Reply Holly in Ohio1 year agoHolly in OhioLovely, Melissa! I like that. 2 Reply Don Jones1 year agoDon Jones“Don’t take my word for it. Go experience it for yourself.” 6 Reply Ose1 year agoOseThe quote of Antoine de Saint Exupéry, from: the little prince “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.” Thank you for all your replies to this encouraging and (to me) heart-opening question. 6 Reply Mica1 year agoMicaReminded by what one of you wrote, I’ve come up with one that works for me now: I’m crossing a bridge; all is foggy and cloudy, so I can see nothing, when suddenly the sky clears and the end of the bridge is in sight. I’ll hold onto that one for now. re-membered from “The Hungry Tigress” 6 Reply Mireya1 year agoMireyaIf it’s meant to be, it’s up to me. Since I heard this advice, it has made me more aware that I am in control of my life. The thoughts and actions I take everyday have an impact on my future and only I can impact my future. My happiness, success, and failures are not dependent on anyone else’s decisions but my own. 7 Reply sb1 year agosbMy Mum passed so much good advice on to me, that I absorbed all the time I was growing up. I guess some of the best was “always see the positive”; “every day is a gift”; “treat others as you would treat yourself”; “if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all….” The more I live life, the more I bless and thank her for her wise ways. 7 Reply Palm1 year agoPalmOne day at a time 7 Reply Anna1 year agoAnnaDear Palm! Better to let it go. 7 Reply Elaine1 year agoElaineBless the largeness in yourself (Sue Monk Kidd, The Book of Longings) 8 Reply Trish1 year agoTrishHi Elaine. Maya Angelou I just looked up this quote to make sure I spelt Maya's name right and to make sure it was her quote. I'm so glad I did. I thought it ended at ...."believe them." I never noticed how it really ended.......the first time." I wish I would have payed closer attention. That would have saved me a lot of grief. I hope I won't go unconscious on this lesson again. I hope I won’t go unconscious on this lesson again. I have created lots of find sounding stories in my head and payed the price for not seeing reality when it really mattered most. I used to tell my therapist, “I stayed at the fair too long.” He helped me see I need to trust my gut after years of not being able to do so because I believed many lies for one reason or another. How easy it is to forget the truth. I hope I can heed this lesson now. As the bear is swiping down over the cliff to get him, and the branch is giving way, he sees a wild strawberry growing from the side of the cliff. He reaches over, picks the strawberry and delights in its taste. 7 Reply Michele1 year agoMicheleI thought it was going to read that he gave the strawberry to the bear …. it leaves you hanging … did the bear get him? 2 Reply Cathie1 year agoCathieI do t know – I think that is the meaning – that it is the moments of now experienced in the journey. Your question was the same one I initially asked and only got a smile from my Tai chi teacher? 3 Reply Javier Visionquest1 year agoJavier VisionquestI love this story, Cathie. It has kept the “tigers” from devouring me on more than a few occasions. 3 Reply Cathie1 year agoCathie🙂 2 Reply Toni1 year agoToniI love it! Love it! 3 Reply Javier Visionquest1 year agoJavier VisionquestThere are no mistakes in life that don’t have something important to teach us. In fact, the only real mistake available to us, at all, is to give up. “Don’t fear failure. Fail, fail again, fail more and fail harder for failure is the only genuine route to success” — Jay Lake, Author 9 Reply Christine1 year agoChristineYes!!!!!!🤗 5 Reply sunnypatti1 year agosunnypattiThe lesson of the pause has been my greatest advice. I don’t recall exactly how it was given to me, but putting the pause to practice has definitely made a big difference. Pausing helps me process situations, people, words, and think before I act or speak myself. And if the situation is sticky, pausing helps me to remember what is important and what’s not, or rather, what do I want to allow to take up real estate in my mind? 11 Reply Lauryn1 year agoLaurynYes!!! 4 Reply 1 2 Next » My Private Gratitude Journal Write an entry in your private gratefulness journal Get Started This site is brought to you by A Network for Grateful Living, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
