Determination for them to succeed and be valued for who they are. Having a sense of wry humor. Being honest and direct. 3 Reply Malag1 year agoMalagI seem to be resisting this question. I don’t see the gifts I have as unique. Maybe some of them are uncommon, but unique? The second leg of the question is something I have pondered for some months and it’s still a murky blob for me. I tend to think big: the world with a capital W. But of course I can look close to home, and even home itself, to use the skills I have to be of service. 2 Reply Heather1 year agoHeatherI am an enthusiastic reader and try to instill a joy and wonder of reading whenever I read aloud. I love writing and am trying my hand at a Youtube channel dedicated to writing. 2 Reply Sister Maargaret Mary Byrnes1 year agoSister Maargaret Mary ByrnesI am a good listener. 2 Reply sb1 year agosbI don’t think my talents are unique and I always feel that other people’s gifts are more useful and special than mine, but if I dig deep and reflect, I think genuinely caring and wanting to do something to improve people’s lot is one of my best gifts; I do think I am a good teacher so am hopefully setting “my” children up to succeed in this world – and perhaps, as someone else said, my ability to appear calm on the top, even when my feet are madly paddling under the water. 2 Reply Mica1 year agoMicaI made a cool bday card for my granddaughter today, with photos from the calendars her dad gives us every year, with photos of his girls. I love making cards and have a couple ‘spinach boxes’ full of them to donate to the 2 local thrift stores. 2 Reply Katrina1 year agoKatrinaI listen; I resource and research to pull plans and ideas together;…right now those are the only 2 gifts I think of that I am hearing the call to use. Perhaps my awareness or attentiveness is not very heightened in this summer heat. 4 Reply Ose1 year agoOseNo unique gifts. But people sometimes say they feel understood and listened well to when having been met, either for some advice or other kind of service I am happy and grateful to be allowed to provide for others. 4 Reply Neil1 year agoNeilGreat question and I feel as though the cup is only half full but if I had to identify one or two unique gifts I would say an ability to connect other people and a curiosity and acceptance for change. Just not certain how I would put them into service. 4 Reply Elaine1 year agoElaineWhat comes naturally to me is an impulse to create gatherings – community building I suppose you could say. Some become ongoing groups with a focus others are one off “pop up” gatherings. This serves the world as humans need to feel we belong! 6 Reply Holly in Ohio1 year agoHolly in OhioAbsolutely!!!!! 3 Reply Holly in Ohio1 year agoHolly in OhioI have been told often that I am a good teacher because I am able to digest knowledge and relay it to others in a way that is organized and clear. I also learned from someone who attended Waldorf schools to individualize learning plans and to check in with each student each time I see them and to listen to them. Covid restricted some teaching and mentoring, but I'm looking forward to starting up again gradually. Covid restricted some teaching and mentoring, but I’m looking forward to starting up again gradually. I especially get juiced when a student tells me they tried learning something before from other teachers, but I was able to help them finally “get it.” It excites me because they are excited and happy, and that makes it so rewarding! That is one of my great joys in life. This fall we have already lined up visits and mentoring of sustainable agriculture students from our local community college. I will also soon be arranging small knitting and other craft classes at my home. These last seventeen months have taught us all just how precious it is to have interactions with other people in person. 🙂 Read More5 Reply Holly in Ohio1 year agoHolly in Ohiop.s. Happy Juneteenth everyone! I’m headed to the celebration. 4 Reply Kevin1 year agoKevinThat’s fantastic, Holly. I was thinking about today’s holiday before I answered today’s question but hadn’t found a way to weave it in in a way that made sense. I am both delighted that Juneteenth has finally been recognized formally and also somewhat ashamed that it has taken the US so very long to get there. 5 Reply Nelson1 year agoNelsonMy career wasn’t and will never be linear. I’ve worked in tech, marketing, education, fitness, a little in non-profit, and nowadays finance and investing. Back then, I used to think my resume was sporadic and illogical. Though I have accomplishments in each field, a part of me felt dread explaining my decisions. At first glance, it does look a little random. Anyway, through networking and sharing what I’ve accomplished, I noticed more and more people ask me if I could help them. A wide variety of things. Maybe they need help getting into shape. Maybe they need help figuring our their asset portfolio. Yesterday, a colleague asked me for advice on their website …. And I’d be able to help them effectively, leaving them clear with what to do next. It was only recently I decided to take on the affirmation “I’m multi-talented.” Now I look back on my evolution with pride. I’m not afraid to pursue my dreams. It allows me to help more people. I will occasionally receive some feedback, often in unexpected ways, but I do not look for it. I try to live with integrity and do what it is uniquely mine to do and “let the chips fall where the may.” I need all the focus I can muster just to do that. Any surveying of the terrain for potential outcomes just drains energy and focus from from living truly. 6 Reply Dusty Su1 year agoDusty SuI do have them and I do use them. Sometimes TOO MUCH! 5 Reply Terri Beaudry1 year agoTerri BeaudryI like to organize and help people with practical things. 4 Reply DeVonna1 year agoDeVonnaI write, it’s what I do. It’s my one “unique” gift. Writing helps me make sense of the world and for some reason it seems to help others who read what I’ve written. I’m humbled and amazed each time I sell an article. 6 Reply Shan1 year agoShanService/Seva is a huge task, but I do contribute with my knowledge, supporting community projects. 5 Reply Shan1 year agoShanMy inner strengths enable me to remain calm most times, although I know that my thoughts are in a turmoil. My gifts are to be pointed out to me. Every breadth is a gift for which I am grateful. 5 Reply Michele1 year agoMicheleI find this question difficult for me….I always try to be a good listener and be there for my family and friends. I’m organized and remember everyone’s bdays/anniv/etc. In my professional life I always advocate for lab techs, medical cannabis, and organ and tissue donation. 4 Reply Mica1 year agoMica‘Unique’ may have been the word that stumped you, Michele – the talent I named is far from unique, but I had just practiced it this morn, so I wrote about it. It looks like you have a strong combo of talents – 🥳[that silly thing was supposed to say 🎉 👏 ‘congrats’, but silly icons hop in] 2 Reply Michele1 year agoMicheleThanks Mica:) 1 Reply Holly in Ohio1 year agoHolly in OhioWhy do you think the question is difficult for you, Michele? 3 Reply Michele1 year agoMicheleI think Mica was correct – unique stood out, also ‘service to the world’ seems so large and unobtainable. 2 Reply Mica1 year agoMicaGood point about service to the world, too, Michele – 2 Reply Carol1 year agoCarolI don't feel or think that my gifts are unique but life has tauaght me to use my ordinary gifts willingly.
