Then that can trigger me to say something that I have appreciated what they have done. That in itself serves peace 5 Reply Nancy Walton-House5 months agoNancy Walton-HouseI express gratitude, experience inner peace and serve peace in the world by taking time every day to pray, reflect, read, journal and talk with others about appreciating the gifts we’ve received. I strengthen my spiritual practice by participating in Well Connected Gratitude meetings daily and visiting this website. Sometimes I have longer, deeper conversations with others about living this way. When I do that, I feel renewed and empowered to go forth and set the world on fire as Saint Ignatius of Loyola commissioned us to do. Deo Gratias! Every World Gratitude Day, I can see my blessings that have accumulated throughout the years. To serve peace, I can use International Peace day to think about and pray for those who are oppressed, abused, or marginalized, as well as for the people who perpetrate those forms of pain, so that they can learn to stop dehumanizing themselves by the act of oppressing others. Maybe, in future years, I can even do some kind of project in solidarity with the marginalized on International Day of Peace, though I am not sure what that would look like yet. Yesterday afternoon in Australia, on the 21st of September, I wrote this on social media. I think it encapsulates how recognizing and respecting the Divine in others makes way for us all to live not only peacefully but joyously and gratefully. “This afternoon, two women were walking their out-to-pasture greyhounds. Meaning, they were former racers or breeders and cared for lovingly after a life of no doubt, significant trauma. One of the dogs was in a large baby pram, and the other trotted beside it. They headed toward me on the footpath. I noticed the foundation jacket and charity brand leads on the dogs and felt happy they at least had found some reprieve from racing. As we got closer, the women began to veer onto the nature strip because of the COVID 1.5-meter restrictions. I quickly yelled, “No, no, no need. Let me move for you!†They both burst forth excitedly, “Thank you, thank you. You are so kind!†and one of them added as I passed, “You are the first person ever to do that!†I am not telling you this story to show how kind I am. Quite the opposite. Can you imagine that these two kind-hearted souls, humbly caring for dogs in such a beautiful manner, thanked me for stepping out of the way for them? Anyone encountering them should have thanked them and made their passage easier, don’t you think? Come on, Melbournians/Australians, get off your phones, look at the wonders that folks are doing for other sentient beings. We can do better than forging our way through at the expense of others.†Read More5 Reply Michele5 months agoMichelebeautiful 5 Reply Dusty Su5 months agoDusty SuThank you! ⤠5 Reply Ed Schulte5 months agoEd SchultePrepared 24 jars of wild berry jelly ( Buffalo berry ) this morning to give to all the “EdS when are you bring me my buffalo berry jellyâ€? folks…. and they will, in return, “serve some peace†to me! All “Gratitude†goes to the nature spirits who concocted these amazing berries which the First Nations people used to prepare their pemmican. ( Just wished the bushes were not so thorny! ) 0 Reply Michele5 months agoMicheleI never heard of buffalo berries before …. I love this site in that you learn something new everyday:) 5 Reply Don Jones5 months agoDon JonesTo bow down. Bow down to this creation, this happening. Bow down to all things, all people. What a wonderful blessing it is to be part of this daily miracle. 0 Reply Sarah5 months agoSarahTell those dear to me how much they impact my life in a positive way. Give grace and thanks during my meditation practice for those who came before me and those who will come after. Giving thanks for the presence of my issues because without them, I would not learn to grow and thrive and transform. 0 Reply Melissa5 months agoMelissaI pray each morning before meditation for all beings on Earth and in the universe to be in peace and safety. I also thank each of my ancestors and friends who have died and envision their faces and tell them how grateful I am for their kindness to me. At night I light a candle for whoever is in trouble with health issues, tough times or just need someone to send a prayer for relief. I am grateful I am still alive and able to do this for my inner and theirs. 2 Reply Mica5 months agoMicaI just finished a series of classes on White and Awakening – I can try to take a small step toward sharing the teachings of the class. I was shocked to read recently about a Black-owned home that was appraised for sale at a much higher value after Black photos were replaced with White photos, and other things were done to hide the fact that the current owners were Black. So so unfair! 1 Reply Linda5 months agoLindaA smile and a thank you go a long way in this environment. I make this a part of every interaction, even when I don’t “feel” like it. I can feel the hopelessness creeping in after the loss of RBG, but it is important to counteract it in my interactions with others. 2 Reply Marilyn Leposki5 months agoMarilyn LeposkiI offer peace as a silent blessing to all. that I pass. I start each day by verbally speaking gratitude for a fresh day and for the gift of life. I try to remember to say “thank you” to the bus drivers and other servicepeople encountered through the day. I serve peace by examining my thoughts when I catch myself harboring mean thoughts about something or someone. It is a slow process. 2 Reply pkr5 months agopkrI give thanks for this new & beautiful day upon awakening. Thru the day I find things that I am grateful for & at the end of each day, I name 5 things I am grateful for from my day. (it usually ends up being more than 5!). As for Peace, I am peace, I am peaceful. The way to Peace is being Peace. I will silently bless all who cross my path, even those that push my buttons! Happy Monday All…..? 2 Reply Linda5 months agoLindaI love this. 0 Reply GCharlotte5 months agoGCharlotteI may continue saying my thank yous. I may pray. I am going to listen to it right now and be grateful for the commencement of Fall amongst many, many other gratitudes. 0 Reply Patricia5 months agoPatriciaI will be grateful for the gift of a physical condition I have that seems to be recurring…. because it makes me mindful of all I CAN do to take care of myself… and makes me grateful for the gift of my body and all that it is capable of … and if I am at peace with whatever each day brings, that is sending peace into my family, community and world. 3 Reply Butterfly5 months agoButterflyOh yes, Patrica, I can relate to that. When we find ourselves with illnesses or disabilities it shows up very clearly what we can and can’t do and I am so grateful for what I can still do, even though there are a lot of things I need help with. My illness has taught me a great deal. The teacher Ram Das calls illness and disability fierce grace! xx 0 Reply Patricia5 months agoPatriciaThank you, Butterfly! 5 Reply Butterfly5 months agoButterflyI will notice all the little things that bring me joy today.
