The ground beneath me, the air around me – what is one other thing that is always here that I may have forgotten to be grateful for?

    Every part of my body. I am thankful for the fingers allowing me to type this and for the legs propping up my computer and keeping it steady. For my eyes that can see the screen and for my arms that support my hands. I’m thankful for the trees, especially during this time of year where the fall colors are rich and vibrant. I’m grateful for a place to live and a place I can call home. A place to keep me warm or cool and safe.

There are dreamers, people who are dreaming of a world there isn’t so much suffering and yes, suffering is real and people experience it all over the world.     When I look outside the window from the warm and cozy place where I live, I see a lovely place, beautiful houses and a view on a church right in front of me, all seemingly a self-evident presence and comfort every day which nourishes me in many ways, it provides security, beauty, a safe feeling and atmosphere, food inside the stores easily to buy, places for meditation in reach and friends to share all this abundance. Indeed a huge lot to be grateful for. Thank you for this question!

    Broadly, home. More specifically, I woke up on a snowy cold morning with a roof over my head, hot water in the shower, lights and the satellite TV back online. Only with this prompt do I take a moment to recognize the absolute blessing of these things I take for granted.
