If I approach everyone that is and has been on my path as a teacher, were and are here for mutual benefit then I have many gifts that are still buried and ready in time for me to receive these opportunities of good fortune.
It is through others that I learned kindness, generosity, meditation, direction, patience, thoughtfulness, being solution oriented, independence, to find a space to experience awe and wonder in the natural world, to question, the value of inclusion, human rights, that everyone is on their own unique path, to help rather than hinder, trauma is there to be healed, to laugh at the ridiculous, the benefit of play, a work ethic, forgiveness, to try something, to build a strength, to reach out for help, to receive , … this list is as long as the moments I’ve lived.

Today I am grateful for learning about music from my Mother. I went to see a symphony orchestra today at the near by University.
I was raised with music because of my Mother who had a beautiful voice and sang in the church Choir . I have played both the clarinet and guitar which i no longer do but will always have a love of music.

One of my ‘teachers’ who comes to mind is a former landlady. She has had to use a wheelchair as long as I have known her- maneuvering around the house, including cooking and taking her two Italian greyhounds for walks, and even trying to weed in the garden from the wheelchair.
She has been living with MS for years and now is in an assisted living center, since her disease is progressing. Whenever I talk to her or visit her, I come away impressed at the matter-of-fact way she moves through life with dignity in spite of her increasing disability. No moaning or groaning, just quietly continuing to do what she can do and take a lively interest in my life and in making a difference in the world.

Thanks Maeve. My dad had MS and died at 36. It is nice to hear about someone doing well in spite of it. Lovely that you visit her.

Everyone is my teacher, if I am
    open and receptive. The lessons
are all around me. My job is to
    continue learning and growing
    and maintain a student mind.

Every one is our teacher and these teachers that cross our paths either give us life-giving or life-limiting messages. If I had to pick one teacher who helped me let go of many of those life-limiting messages it would be Fr. Jim who was in my life for over 27 years.

Great recognition that everyone is a teacher in some way whether they mean to be or not and that some lessons are positive, some are not.

We had a Father James in our area too. Many people would say that about him too.

When I was in my early 20’s, I nannied for a family with 7 children. My life experiences had been very limited to that point. Ruth, the mom, taught me the love of cooking, preciousness of family, generosity to others, how important education is, appreciation of fine art, and that spirituality is larger than organized religion. Because of her I traveled to Washington DC and took the Montessori training. Which is my life’s work.

Thank you for the question. The reflection made my grateful for what I needed at the time.

Sounds like a good job and great teacher Yram. Thanks for telling us about your experience. So, you taught kids for your life’s work? Thank you. My husband taught 6th grade his first year and says those kids taught him how to teach.

There are many. I can say some have taught me wonderful, great things, and how I wanna be, and others have taught me what not to do, and how not to act and not to be. I value both.

It seems people who question the questions have taught me something, here and other places. Thank you.

It seems there are new people here every day I look, so any question is new to them. Plus, it seems the same question could reach someone in a different way another day.

I started out to say my first boss who gave me confidence that I could get a job, do it, and be respected. It is a long story.

Two very different thoughts about the same question.

I have learned so much from all of you who post here: wise words to cherish, new perspectives for old challenges and fresh eyes for everyday surroundings. It’s a beautiful way to start the day. Many thanks and blessings to all.

Was this asked recently in another way?

Regardless, everyone I’ve interacted with or read wisdom from has been a teacher. Some with small lessons; others with really big ones. I have gained the gift of perseverance from my mother, the gift of being able to stay calm in tough situations from both my dad and a former mentor who taught me the lesson of the pause. I found my strength from my toxic first marriage, and I’m so grateful that I did and was able to move forward and make a better life. I realized my love for yoga from a youtube teacher, Lesley Fightmaster. God rest her soul, but I found her years ago when she first started her channel and I just resonated with the way she taught and found a regular practice because of her even though I’d practiced on and off before.

I’m open to the teachers I haven’t met yet! And each of you on this site are teachers as well. Thank you for sharing your stories.

Less than a month ago they asked who has had the greatest impact in our lives. Those of us who have been coming for a while will often recognize repetition and overlap. Maybe it’s time for each of us to submit a fresh question that we want to answer!

Everyone is my teacher because they are a reflection of my mind world there to teach me how and what to let go of. What am I holding on to now ? Habits are to be let go of. My teachers are currently helping me to let of of all the habits passed down beginning-less time!
This is the biggest gift possible! To let go of all of my selfishness habits and be free! Who wouldn’t do this ? Thank you so much for this precious human life, an opportunity to be able to let go!

Who has not? Very grateful for example for my teacher in arts who has been very creative; he had much sense for teaching us in this field, enriching our lives until today with his broad inspiring tools and sense for colors, various techniques, understanding and creativity. He was conveying with heart, thank you dearly for this great gift you offered us, dear D.J.. In every field of life, kindred hearts have and are conveying what they do; happy to be with my friends and kindred hearts, being touched deeply by their love for all.
