I’m saddened, for, even though I feel better it also reminds me of what they’re taking away from me every moment. Thanks for all you do; have a great day 🙂 reality 1 Reply Malag10 months agoMalagI notice that this body is alive and may well make it to a third breath! 6 Reply Blessings on Blessings10 months agoBlessings on Blessingssmell and taste of food. letting go of the days worries. 5 Reply Dusty Su10 months agoDusty SuI teach a simple exercise to those in palliative care, and those caring for them. A great, simple breathing exercise for calming both the nervous system and the overworked mind is a timed breath. When your exhale deeply, the vagus nerve (running from the neck down through the diaphragm) sends a signal to your brain to turn up your parasympathetic nervous system and turn down your sympathetic nervous system. The sympathetic system commands your fight or flight response, and when they fire, your heart rate and your breathing speed up, and stress hormones like cortisol start pumping through your bloodstream, preparing your body to face a threat. The parasympathetic system, on the other hand, controls your rest, relax, and digest response. When the parasympathetic system is dominant, your breathing slows, your heart rate drops, your blood pressure lowers as the blood vessels relax, and your body is put into a state of calm and healing. There is a calm. All is well. 4 Reply Trish10 months agoTrishBreathing consciously helps me to slow down. I feel lighter & less anxious. I’m alive on this amazing planet. That’s most certainly something to be grateful for? 4 Reply devy10 months agodevy. Physically while inhaling, I feel a tingling down my spine which then spreads to my extremities similar to electrical impulses. And exhaling and the space between breathes Calm and peacefulness..focusing on the now, the breathe itself. My mind is focused on the sensations.. 2 Reply Butterfly10 months agoButterflyI feel calm and centred, and open to life just as it is. “Be still and know god” 4 Reply sunnypatti10 months agosunnypattipeace! 3 Reply Kevin10 months agoKevinRelaxation! Though I never experience difficulty relaxing (my wife would be laughing if she read this right now!), I should remind myself to do this more frequently during the day. 5 Reply 1 2 Next » My Private Gratitude Journal Write an entry in your private gratefulness journal Get Started This site is brought to you by A Network for Grateful Living, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
