This sums it up, I believe you either have it or you don’t. It’s in your blood! Sure we are human so some days may be
more challenging then others to strive for a perfect score of integrity.

The magnificent seven aspects of integrity
Honesty. This means telling the truth, being open, not taking advantage of others. …
    Respect. …
    Generating trust. …
    Pride. …
    Responsibility. …
    Keeping promises. …
    Helping others.

I always strive to be honest and transparent with everyone in my life, to do the right thing even when no one is looking… However, I know I could improve on having integrity with myself. If I were to be more honest with myself, I would be able to give credit in areas that I know are deserving. Today, I can live with greater integrity by being honest with myself and accepting compliments, love, and grace for everything I do and/or don’t do. I show myself compassion for being human, today; I have been allowing my environment and certain people, people who don’t truly value me, to creep into my mind, causing me to question myself and believe things about myself that I know are false and intruding thoughts and emotions… things that make me feel as if I am not enough. I know I’m enough; more than enough. I will live with greater integrity by being honest with myself about what the true intentions of those around me are; honestly asking myself if they are worth the place in my life? Do I want to continue on down the current direction my life is going? If I am not happy, I need to make a change. I cannot let the inability of other’s to see my worth, allow my shine to dim. I can feel myself transforming into a very diluted version of myself… someone I barely recognize anymore. I have become gray and numb, rather than full of life, bright, vibrant, and excited about the little things. I need to get back to that version of me and remove anything that is hindering me from being that beautiful person, so full of life and love.

By being present, be there where needed, acting congruent with the inner process actually happening. Being in the moment as much as possible. Heart open.

A Personal Support Worker once said that she would do what needs to be done without concern of cost or time, because it needs to be done, and she will do this because she is a Christian. Since that time, this has helped to come to an idea of what integrity means– being true in actions and words to values and how I see or maybe want to support myself in seeing myself that way.

I was talking with a friend just last night about terms like, “deeper truth” and “greater integrity” and “super”. I am unsure what they try to convey. Is it becoming aware of something previously blind to? How does my integrity look today compared to yesterday? It is a tricky space for me because I seek to experience Truth, not understand it. Is the question pointing to deepening an experience? Maybe the question could just simply be, “How could I live today?” I think I will walk with the question and stand in front of some trees and see if something emerges.

By looking after myself . I tend to look after others or put their interests over mind. Like compassion, integrity for oneself should be paramount.

Be kind to my family. While it is easy for me to be kind to most people, I am often less than kind to my mom and my siblings. We have a rough history and very dysfunctional communication, but it is definitely within my power to be more kind.

By listening with intention and pausing before speaking. By aligning my heart and my head.
By following through on promises with actions.

I had trouble with this question. Like Yram, I want to know: What is “greater integrity?” For the most part, I don’t think integrity can be measured. You either have it or you don’t. I looked up the word and I found two definitions: 1. the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness and 2. the state of being whole and undivided. The second definition gives me a little space because I work daily on integrating my insides and my outsides, on identifying when I am acting out of love or out of fear. I understand that I and others are not perfect. We have what I call miss-takes. It’s a big part of how we learn to love and forsake our fear. It’s how we become more trustworthy. I always think of a person with integrity as being trustworthy. I hope others see me that way.

I usually write my reflection before I read the comments. Today I didn’t because I got caught on the the word “greater.” After reading the comments, I agree how can I add when that quality is already there. Maybe a better thought is, how can I be aware of my integrity and make sure it is genuine.

I’d like to borrow a slogan that is on a poster in my classroom: “Integrity is doing the right thing when no one is looking.”

I hope that I already live with integrity. I imagine that I need to think more about integrity…what it means to me. But honestly…I just try to be a good person, kind to others, and grateful for my life and those who are in my life. As always I learn from others on this site…Thank you.

I read somewhere years ago that the meaning of integrity is the integration of values and behavior. In the context of today’s question, integrity means, to me at any rate, making sure that my inner values and outer behavior are knitted together both privately and publicly. There shouldn’t be a “do as I say not what I do” quality in my life. There should not be an “at home” Laura or a “public” Laura. They should be the same. I could live with greater integrity if I paused more often so that I could act in greater awareness rather than react in default mode.

Beginning and ending my day being in the present. Listening with intention and speaking from my heart. Non judgement and acceptance for what is. Always remembering when I meet someone, I need to go to town today, that they all know something I do not. I woke up sober and intend to lay down this evening sober. Peace, kindness and love towards all beings helps also.
