Sarah1 year agoSarahPardon me for answering this in the negative… I know that trying to be or become something (beautiful, smart, successful, etc.) does not make me happy. What makes me happy are certain moments or experiences, although I am not sure what their underlying commonalities are. 1 Reply Malag1 year agoMalagFamily friends walking sailing music a good book my dog. I know it because when I get to be with an animal, I feel a sense of peace in my body, and any physical sensations I am feeling from stress seem to go away temporarily. 4 Reply Michele1 year agoMicheleTotally agree!:) 1 Reply Elizabeth M Jones1 year agoElizabeth M JonesBeing a Catholic makes me happy. I love Mary, Jesus, and Joseph and I love living a Nazareth life with purpose and with faith. I love that with my diet I am not causing pain and suffering, that I care about the environment and that I am a conscious consumer. Being a teacher makes me happy and being a grandmother makes me happy. God is good all the time … all the time! 2 Reply Ed1 year agoEdMy wife’s smile. I know because I feel myself smiling back! 4 Reply Tom1 year agoTomWhat makes me most happy is connecting with another person in a small group setting. I know it when the conversation consists of holding space for one another and allowing things to unfold. I just think I feel more at home in this type of situation. I know it because I can feel my heart open to situation. 5 Reply Angel1 year agoAngelHelping others and making other people smile makes me happy. I was faced with a situation in life that would have sent me into major depression. Instead of giving into that, I made steps to work through it and accept the feelings I was having. I am a stronger person than I was a week ago. A bad situation can have positive effects in your life. 5 Reply pkr1 year agopkrMother Nature makes me happy. Years ago when I was a therapist, my supervisor criticized me for how I greeted clients in the waiting room and took them to the kitchen to get a cup of coffee before we went to my office to talk. He said I welcomed people as if they were entering the living room of my house. I took his criticism as a compliment because I had been trained that it was the relationship that healed clients and he saw me behaving exactly as I meant to behave. I used to romance the idea of furnishing my office as a kitchen with a round oak table in the center and a coffee pot on the counter where I could sit with clients and talk. I spend a lot of time alone due to the nature of my work, but it has become very clear to me that I am wired to connect and I love talking with people in a relaxed setting. It seems to me such a welcoming kindness to bringing clients, and anyone, to the kitchen for coffee. And it sets a certain kind of openness to conversation to be welcomed in this way. 6 Reply Present Moment1 year agoPresent MomentThank you. When the house is clean, I can just focus on my family and we can spend time together without me worrying about anything needing to get done. Last night we sat at the kitchen table and played a board game. It was amazing. 9 Reply Christina1 year agoChristinaI agree! 0 Reply GCharlotte1 year agoGCharlotteBeing close to God in prayer makes me happy while I know this because by being happy with God I am happy with my family , community, artistic pursuits and just living! 3 Reply Michele1 year agoMicheleToday’s picture in word for the day made me happy.
