I recently had a birthday and all the wonderful comments, messages and well wishes from friends, acquaintances, business colleagues and family made my heart overflow. I am grateful to have such richness in my life.

A boost of gratitude that lasted the day and now with every remembrance was the kindness of the accountant who participated in the annual donation of time, expertise and patience to assist low income people, me included, complete my taxes. I told the accountant that assisted me that I would be thanking him in my mind all day.

My friend, Amy. I’m currently struggling with some anxiety/panic issues that came on suddenly. We check in with each other by text and when I told her I was having a particularly rough morning, she offered to come over and just be with me and work from my house. It was such a sweet thing and I can’t say how much that really meant and helped me. I did thank you but need to send a snail mail card, too.

My new found friend that is my daughter’s guardian angel right now. I have let him know all this week since meeting him that I am so grateful for his caring and help with my daughter’s current situation.

A dear friend who is always full of encouragement, a great listener and wonderful at gently asking “why”? She loves a glass of bubbles with her evening meal, so I sent her a bottle of champaign as a small token of my gratitude.

I was struggling with this question this
morning. And then out of the blue, a
guest from last night, texted to thank
me for my service. It is very very rare,
that I will get a text the next day from
a guest. I immediately texted back with
    my appreciation.

My spouse makes my day everyday. I try to show her everyday what she means to me and that I appreciate all she does for me. Amen

I saw that my neighbors had put out a coffee table and two chairs So driving by on my bike said good morning to him and returned with my car which was too small. So, he offered to put it in the back of his pickup truck and delivered it.
I’ll be sure to thank him when I go down to his swimming hole later this summer.

A good friend of mine just got a promotion at work (we work for the same agency) and asked if we could get together to celebrate. It made me feel so good to know that we’re part of their family and that they’d want to mark the occasion with time together. Last night we got together for “hors d’oeuvres dinner”–no main course, just lots of cheeses, crackers, veggies, dips, various noshes–and for dessert their favorite cookies from a bakery just down the street. I got to put out lots of things I’ve made and preserved and they loved the flavors, which made me feel extra good (cranberry chutney, apple/pear butter, pickled red onions). Feeding people is one of my love languages and we had a delightful evening. Thanks to this question I just sent a text message to thank them for wanting to celebrate this moment with us.

We have had a few Birthday people here!! I am joining in as well. My Birthday was March 31 and I have heard from a friend every year for the past 18 years on my Birthday. He is a dear friend- he was my Professor in my MS and PhD years and we have remained good friends. He lives in NY and travels frequently to his home in Toronto and his family home in Turkey. This year he did not call on my Birthday and I was a bit sad…but thought…oh it must be Spring Break and maybe he is in Turkey….well he called last night and said he was so sorry …that the day got away from him. He tried to call twice and got interupted…so how delighted I was to hear from him. I knew he wouln’t forget!! I thanked him and told him how many years he had been calling…and I will return the favor and also hopefully visit him in the not to distant future.

Recently, due to my birthday, my co-workers. I’m blessed to work with awesome peeps. They made me feel special – I had flowers and a large balloon waiting for me on my desk when I had gotten into work. I was treated to lunch – my choice (I had picked Chicken Salad Chick – soooo yummy). I also received gifts from them too. They really did ‘make my day’. I let them know by thanking them. I look forward to returning the kindness on their birthdays.

Our five year old grandson. He was on a video chat with my wife, Dick Tracy come to life, and she called me over to hear and see Emerick’s joke. Emerick asks “What is your name?” I reply Papa. Then he points to his nose. “What’s this?” I reply your nose. Emerick then folds one hand along the side of the other as if he was about to have someone pour something in them. “What’s in my hands?” I reply nothing. He then very rapidly shouts out with glee “Papa knows nothing!” and cracks himself up along with Cheryl and I. As it has been said “Laughter is the best medicine.” Especially when it is with a five year old.

A customer told me the other day that I made HER day. All I did was help her pick out some delicious cheeses for a party… just doing my job! But it felt good, and I told her she made my day, too, with her kindness.
