On my way to a Dr’s appointment I was not looking forward to, the cab driver was very upbeat and asking how I was, saying he hoped everything would turn out well with me. He also said he would pray for me.
When I got into the hospital and sat down to take out my cellphone in the Cafe, a lady walked up and said let me get someone to clean off your table dear (there were a few crumbs). So someon came and cleaned the table, but I was only sitting there to organize my bag, and check that I had the right things for the appointmnet.

I have had many caring thoughts and concerns for my daughter including many of you. Today I learned that she does have a heart condition that caused the cardiac arrest called QT Prolongation. Tonight she seemed more able to grasp it a bit instead of crying hysterically. She is a certified Nurse Assistant. Hoping and praying that we figure this all out. Thank you for your kindness and allowing me to share my little world and concerns.

A kind man who does handy work around our house helped my husband to lift my very bloated feet onto the footstool. sounds small, but it means a lot.

My own. Lately I’ve realised that there’s a difference to being nice and being kind. Being nice is out of fear of being rejected, being kind is out of generosity and abundance. Lately I’ve been trying to be more mindful with my intentions, and pay back the kindness I’ve received from the world ten-fold. I don’t need anything in return, I’m content knowing that I could be kind.

A friend that has been through some
big challenges in the last two years, has
surprised me by reaching out to me and
    including me in her recovery.
Reminds me, that one of the positive things
that can come out of personal struggles,
    is increased empathy.

Love this question. When I crashed my bike almost two weeks ago (snow over ice that I couldn’t see) I went down hard and lay there a few moments, stunned and with the wind knocked out of me. I finally could move and started pulling myself toward the curb, but I couldn’t stand. The driver of the first vehicle to approach pulled over and came back to help. He moved my bike to the sidewalk, and he and his wife talked with me and made sure I was okay and didn’t need further help. They stayed with me while I called my husband, who was only 5 minutes away, and wouldn’t have left if I hadn’t told them I would be fine waiting for him on the curb. I thanked them for their kindness to a stranger. Not two minutes after they pulled away, a man walking his dog across the street called out, “Do you need a hand?” I called back “No thanks, I have help coming, but thanks for the offer.”

This reminded me of the immediate kindness of strangers when I fell and broke my wrist a couple of years ago. So many good people who help others when help is needed, who offer kindness with no expectation of any return. So I’m not necessarily surprised by kindness; I feel the warmth and community.

So many people. I had a tiny medical procedure and so many of the folks I work with showed compassion and love. It felt nice to be loved so thoughtfully.

A person stopped by for no reason than to say hi.
A clerk gave me the 2 pita breads I wanted plus 1 for no charge.

As usual when we are traveling it is just Peter and I and as home we do not encounter too many people….I guess it is somewhat of a lonely existence. Yesterday, we needed a part for our motothome…so we went to a RV parts store…kindness did not prevail there….they charged $80 for a part that costs $15 on Amazon!…but since we cannot get packages delivered at this time..we had to pay. After we went to lunch to a local luncheonette…our waitress was a very sweet older lady. She was welcoming and kind…and suggested a great club sandwich!! In a closer kindness; I hear from one of my nieces every day- and on the days we travel she sends out prayers for us for safe travels and then always checks in to see that we made it to our destination. Wishing you all some kindness in your day!

While kindness is all around, I wanted to mention the most recent one. My friend went to Australia on a holiday. While there she heard that goat milk is used in Australia and New Zealand for Eczema. She brought back goat milk cream and soaps for me. I was so touched.

Kindness, to me, is a natural offering, so I am not generally surprised by it. I am more surprised at the opposite! May we all encounter nothing but kindness today 🙂

A reply to a letter I wrote to a childhood friend of many decades ago. Due to life circumstances we have been out of touch for many decades. I was apprehensive about my request for a phone call or zoom meeting where we could speak face to face. Her response was warm and accepting even though she lives in the UK and I live here in the YS. She and I both have very different but very busy lives. I appreciated her kind and open response to my request.

I don’t like to think of someone’s kindness as a surprise because that is an indication to me that I may have passed judgement on that someone.

The word « surprise » doesn’t describe how I feel when someone extends kindness to me. Whether I know the person or not, I feel endeared towards them. So much of kindness is a simple gesture, and it just makes me feel part of the larger world.

The group of electricians that were at my house yesterday – all very nice and professional. Will see them again today and tomorrow. So far so good🤞
