Definitely Music helps me too. Sometimes I will try to go for a walk but if I am feeling out of sorts that doesn’t always help.
However after feeling out of sorts I am back to finding moments of joy again!

I don’t know, but I’ve always felt that there was joy in nature, in playing, in laughing together, in singing, in beautiful friendships.
I definitely wasn’t brought up with joy, in joy, and in the past my joyful moments were limited, great walls around the wings of my imagination.
Slowly I kept on my path, simply finding new ways, without disturbing, without invading, just seeking without stopping. Here I am, still a work in progress, but, finally, savoring it.

It is usually music. The genre would depend on what is flowing around me, but it is usually music that can help make the shift.

I appreciate the suggestions for going outdoors in nature to find joy. I live in the rainy Pacific Northwest and going outside is usually the last thing I want to do! But I will do so today.

Mother Nature. Her splendor, her glory, her magnificence.
The practice “Say Yes to Joy” offered here a few weeks ago brought me so much joy. The music, the interviews, the poetry, the links, all opened my eyes up to the Joy that lives all around me/us. Thank you to all who made that sweet practice a reality. 🙏🏻❤️

What has brought me joy, when joy has
been out of reach, is, getting out in nature,
doing a little gratitude inventory, connecting
with a person who has had a different
experience than me, and trying to be
careful about what I expose my body
    and mind to.

This one is hard and something I definitely need to work on. But when joy seems far away, I think it is most important to get outside in nature and see the beauty that we are presented with each and every day of our life!

The recent “Say Yes to Joy” practice from this site has helped me to connect with Joy. On Day 1, a video was posted of an interview with Brene Brown, who I much admire. She is a researcher and shared the results of her research on Joy. She said that she never once met a person who experienced Joy apart from Gratitude. I was nodding my head in recognition of her discovery.
As always, all of the responses here resonated with me. Especially the sharing that joy is not something to “go after” and that very often arrives by surprise. But our hearts must be open to Her presence.
    ~Have a blessed day all 🙏
ps. I’ve noticed that Kevin seems to be absent these past couple of days. I hope you are well Kevin….I’m sending a prayer in your direction. 💚

A lot of times I feel surprised by joy because I am in the present moment and I feel grateful and suddenly joy drops in unexpectedly. Gratefulness and joy often go hand and hand.

      Good morning Pilgrim.
Brother Sun is shining strong here today in our part of Colorado after some unusually cloudy days.
I was thrilled to discover when we moved here that the sun, which is so healing to me, is an almost constant presence. On most days, no matter how cold, I can sit outside comfortably soaking it up on our porch. I’m reminded of St. Francis and his Canticle of Creation.

“Be praised, my Lord, for all your creation
and especially for our Brother Sun,
      who brings us the day and the light;
he is strong and shines magnificently.
O Lord, we think of you when we look at him.”

Such a gift to meet with you here on our Prayer Tuesday. I hope you are continuing to heal from your fall.🙏🙏
~ Have a blessed day my friend. Namaste.

If joy feels beyond reach my first step isn’t to try to overreach. I would ground myself in the moment if I’m feeling sad or down and remind myself that this too shall pass. Joy isn’t something I think I can force.

Sometimes I just accept that it feels beyond reach. Relax and let it be. I may not experience joy but I do experience relief. For me, Life is not about performing. It’s about processing.

As is often the case here, today’s question left me a bit baffled. However, as is often the case once again, people’s responses resonated with me. Thanks to all who post here. You’ve become a sort of daily “support group” for me on my spiritual journey. Do keep posting, please! Namaste!
