Or stepping inside the ‘world as it could be’ when meditating. 1 Reply Papilio2 months agoPapilioI visit in my mind again and again the mountain range in my old hometown thousands miles away. When I was a child, it was covered with snow in winter and looked very close to us on a clear day. I always talked to the mountain when my mind was troubled. By somehow I always knew what I should do next after talking to the mountain. 2 Reply Malag2 months agoMalagAwareness through meditation 2 Reply Melissa2 months agoMelissaWhen I was going to Mills College in Oakland. Doane University had a really beautiful campus, and I often feel nostalgia for that time in my life. Maybe I could think about Doane and remember that there may be a time when I feel that peace again soon, God-willing. 3 Reply Cheryle2 months agoCheryleIt is not really in my mind.. it is when I sit at my easel and draw. I always ask God to let my drawing be some how a prayer… I find this soothing, comforting and a form of deep joy. However, oh yes there is a place I can go to in my mind, and, that is by reciting parts of Psalm 23 whilst imagining myself as a lamb being carried very tenderly! 3 Reply Anna2 months agoAnnaWonderful Cheryl, it would be a pleasure if we could have a look at your drawings! 2 Reply Don Jones2 months agoDon JonesIt’s coming home from my appearance to my reality. Like “bad energy” could literally just be working around toxic fumes and having a really bad diet due to poverty constraining what you can eat. Or just the recurrent stress of trying to survive and having difficulties, all that is valid to me. Sometimes people want these places to find peace because they don’t realize that the people around them aren’t purposefully trying to make their life cruddy, they just have legit issues. Basically, sometimes I can push back against my own thinking in terms of being upset over various things by labeling what it is as trivial in the larger context of what is happening around me and in the world so I don’t typically think about trying to up my peace levels. I think a lot about how to help others feel better. Read More3 Reply Butterfly2 months agoButterflyMy special place is deep inside me where I feel I am in the eternal everything-there-is. The lake itself is not always peaceful – quite riled up this past summer – but it holds my heart in any season. 4 Reply devy2 months agodevyI don’t have any specific place where to go in my mind. When I do require peace I actually need to go into nature or use meditation videos or tapes. Perhaps it’s because of my inability to concentrate , something that I have due to my years of anxiety and or my ADHD. Having auditory cues help or actually doing something like playing my piano or guitar helps with my inner peace. 4 Reply Ed Schulte2 months agoEd SchulteIt is not a “place” in the sense of place or time, it is a specific vibration of conscious awareness, which in Ancient Greek and Aramaic language it was named “Nous”. As a description within concepts it is said to be “between the Souls and the Spirit” therefore out of any concepts of Time or Space. Some current day Spiritual teachers like to refer to it as the “Now”. So “Merry Christ-nous ALL” 6 Reply Pollyanna Gladwell2 months agoPollyanna GladwellWhile I have experienced feeling peaceful and calm in many places of natural beauty, in front of wonderful visual and performing art, and during periods of companionable time with others, I have never revisited them in my mind when in need of peace. As others have commented, the place I find peace is within – the same place I experienced the peace and calm I have described. Your definition of “Nous” is a perfect description of the “special place”. Merry Christ-nous to you too, Ed. 4 Reply Ed Schulte2 months agoEd SchulteTy and Play safe Pollyanna, knowing that there is a "new version" of the virus awakening in your chosen home I send a glowing globe of radient white light for added protection. When I am present awareness helps me to make virtuous choices. With awareness I can watch thoughts, feelings, like a spy and pick what I want to see more of like joy and gratefulness. 5 Reply sunnypatti2 months agosunnypattiThe beach. Almost any beach I’ve ever been to! My local beach is easy to access in my mind, and sometimes I see myself on the black sand beach I visited several years ago in Costa Rica. I grew up on the beach, and it’s calming effects are some of my favorite! 5 Reply 1 2 Next » My Private Gratitude Journal Write an entry in your private gratefulness journal Get Started This site is brought to you by A Network for Grateful Living, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
