2024 I will be no doubt learning new work tasks. My laptop for work has been needing to be switched out, making noises. I was dreading changing it out for a new one but I did and thank goodness it ended up not all that bad with the help of a talented IT staff! I have also scheduled myself for wellness exercise classes all of this month : )

All I could think of this morning was work-related stuff, and I really didn’t want to post that, so here I am at 5:45 in the evening… I worked (from home) most of the day, but now that things are in a good place, I am being invited to spread my wings back into my yoga practice. I am going to go do a nice long practice and continue my work of getting back to me 🙂

Happy and blessed New Year all. I look forward to 2024 with you, certain that new insights, wisdom, authentic and thoughtful reflections found here will continue to be a grace in my life. Thank you all so much, as always, for your generous sharing.
    ~Om Shanti….peace, peace 🙏

PS….I was very recently given the nudge the spread my wings by coming out of my self-imposed shell since moving to our new community. I have terrible social anxiety but was called to be brave. And so I have reached out to become more involved. God and the Universe has honored that intention and some wonderful opportunities were gifted to me. Not sure where it will lead but I am proud of myself for taking a step.

Just before this long weekend I got a call asking if I would like to be considered for an opportunity that would require a lot of wing flapping indeed. I said yes, and I’ll find out soon if this will come to be. It’s honestly a compliment even to be considered (like what the Oscar nominees all say, and it’s true). If it doesn’t come about I have other opportunities that I can create to spread my wings in other parts of my life. 2024 is off a to a great start!

This ties a lot into yesterday’s reflection. I am interpreting this to mean where do I have a room for the most growth… I truly believe this is the year for my career. I had a really circuitous path during the first few years of my adult life. I had the gift of rambling and have found my work path a little bit later in life. This is the year where I really see myself, taking my career to an apical level. I’m so fortunate that I have a job where I get to serve others. But now I’m ready to step into a leadership role.

Hmmm, I’m not sure about spreading my
wings, but maybe I’m being invited in the
sense that if I spread my wings and soar
above, I can look and observe whats going
on around me and within me.
Or maybe it’s just the time of year that
    invites reflection.
Or maybe, like the Turkey Vulture perched
on a fence post, facing the morning sun with
its wings spread out wide, just to catch the
    warmth of the sunrise.

Your description of the Turkey Vulture perched on the fence post brought that sight right out of some recess in my mind. Thank you, Charlie.

Charlie…I love the idea of being like a bird in the sky, looking down with mindful observation. Thank you for this imagining.

The New Year…a new me. One who pays attention and starts taking care of herself. I have promised myself a 30 minute walk at least 5 days a week. Striving to be a healthier and better me.

      Yes to walking!

Nannette, Even if you don’t reach the full 320 minute walk, try to walk each day. I just give thanks for how ever many blocks I walk each day but I always walk!

I cannot separate the spreading of my wings from the depth of my willingness to live with an open mind and heart. Right now as the sun rises, I give thanks for the gift of another day. May I have eyes to see and ears to hear what lesson Life is it offering me today. As Br. David says in his 2023 Christmas Message, “Life knows the way home.” I try to spread the Wings of Willingness today and every day that I have and will be given.

Carol….I have internalized your call to willingness and so appreciate that you have made this intention a part of my daily meditations. May it be so that I have “Wings of Willingness” each new day of this new year.

I lost my job at the end of November. I don’t know in which direction to spread my wings and am hoping for inspiration and guidance from the Universe and God.

I have no idea, truthfully. But I am on the watch for doable possibilities, no matter how “small” or simple. Thank you for always being here, and for your suggestions and encouragement along the path.

Good morning on this our first Prayer Tuesday of 2024 dear friend. May this new year bring you peace and all good Pilgrim. I wonder what will call us to spread our wings…even in the most “small or simple” ways?
