And for right this moment, that is the most important thing. And to hear those birds sing, first right before dawn, then again throughout the day, and when sunset starts their song is a different one, but just as soothing for me…it puts joy in my heart….sleep well everyone! 4 Reply Mica1 month agoMicaBetter late than never, Mary Pat? I finally got around to visiting the gratefulness site late today, too. Warm wishes to you – 1 Reply Hot Sauce1 month agoHot SauceThe most important thing in this moment is the fact that I am wide awake after a nice nap in the car on the way home from dog training. 3 Reply Cathie1 month agoCathieTo be open and present to Ultimate Reality, to live that calling each moment- whatever it may be. 3 Reply Elaine1 month agoElainePrepare to see a familiar place with new eyes and deepened respect. We’re going on a walk in the city’s main park with an indigenous teacher. I am a settler Canadian and am prepared to listen and learn from one whose ancestors have lived on this land for millennia. 5 Reply pkr1 month agopkrLove today’s word for the day, ”…..to teach my students how to hear the birds sing.” This quote hit home as I have been so conscious, aware of the birds singing for some time now. Their singing has been my focal point in meditation. Yesterday I felt as if I was at a concert, surround sound, of happy, giddy, joyful, bird song. So many blessings all around, we just have to look & listen. ✨❤️ 5 Reply Mica1 month agoMicaI liked today’s quote, too, pkr – the quote made it into my gratefulness doc. 1 Reply Carol1 month agoCarolPresence…I think today’s quote says it succinctly: “I don’t know anything about consciousness. I just try to teach my students how to hear the birds sing.” 3 Reply Barb C1 month agoBarb CSound of gentle rain on the skylight over my head. Warmth of cat curled up on my legs. Chirring and chirping of birds outside. (In keeping with the word of the day I was just listening to the dawn chorus from around the world https://dawn-chorus.org/the-chorus/) The steam from the pot of water boiling for the next carafe of French press slowly clearing from the kitchen window pane, with the green of the trees beyond. Peace and quiet. 3 Reply Chester1 month agoChesterWho knows! 3 Reply Cathie1 month agoCathieWell, this made me giggle – thank you! 1 Reply Charlie T1 month agoCharlie TThe most important thing right now, is that I’m still breathing and I’m taking another step. Moving forward. Willing myself to keep going. Pushing past apathy and doubt. Oh yeah, and the sun is shining the cats are playing, the coffee is doing it’s magic, and I get to ride bikes with two amazing friends. The most important thing is being present in this moment. 7 Reply Antoinette1 month agoAntoinetteBeing here and recognizing what is with acceptance. 6 Reply Ed Schulte1 month agoEd SchulteWell I wont call it a “Thing” but it is the inner/outer light of my morning contimplation/meditation exercise which are lingering in my Be-ing-ness and making everything glow in a beautiful Golden and pink glow. And yes it also greatly enhances the Birds and their songs this morning ( making reference to the ‘Word of the Day’.) and the new green growth bursting forth everywhere with great enthusiasm! Good Love, Light and Light to ALL. 4 Reply sparrow1 month agosparrow. . . being here . . . now . . . learning how to hear the birds sing . . . 8 Reply Don Jones1 month agoDon Jonesthe stillness – soaking into the stones cicada’s cry 1 Reply Butterfly1 month agoButterflyTo notice it. See what I can see. Hear what I can hear. Feel, taste, smell this moment before getting lost in the business of mind-things again! 5 Reply Carol1 month agoCarolYour answer reminds me of a quote from Scripture: “for this people’s heart has become dull, and their ears are hard of hearing. They have shut their eyes so that they might not see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart and turn, and I would heal them.” We miss so much because of our monkey-minds! I used to tell those I sponsored in 12-step, If you are in the past or the future you go there alone. God Is. 2 Reply Ose1 month agoOseThank you, dear Butterfly, for your inspiring post!
