So many lives have passed over them, supporting them and giving an occasional creak to remind of why they’re here. And the trees that made them were probably saplings 200 years ago breathing a planet so different to now. And here I am with my feet on this history. 6 Reply Lioness4 months agoLionessWhat an amazing and grounding feeling those floorboards must bring. 2 Reply Rachael Barham4 months agoRachael BarhamThat I have a home of my own that I share with two other humans that I love and who love me. The wood of the floor here in our den is wide pine planks leftover from a friend’s renovation project, which another friend laid for us as part of him renovating this whole room. It look warm and feels smooth, and makes this room the cozy, beautiful space that it is. 7 Reply Don Jones4 months agoDon JonesThat this Emptiness here, where I am looking from, is – rather than contains – these shapes and these colours at my feet. As Zen insists, form is void and the void is form, Nirvana is none other than Samsara, the Lotus of Enlightenment is one with the Swamp of Delusion which is its habitat. 3 Reply Mica4 months agoMicaWow – there is a whole square foot of my carpet, by the guinea pigs, that has not a single piece of alfalfa hay! But there is still a faint dirt smudge and a speck of white – it seems to be a speck from a styrofoam bit like those used for beanbag chairs. Thanks for the fun question! 4 Reply Elaine4 months agoElaineMy beautiful healthy feet! They are a miracle of dynamic architecture! 6 Reply Lauryn4 months agoLaurynI look down and see the painted wooden planks of my small porch. Before I moved to this house I lived in apartments with no outdoor space for the past few years. I am grateful I now have this space to sit outside every morning and take in the sounds of the world waking up, 7 Reply DeVonna4 months agoDeVonnaMy little dog, he lays at my feet and attentive to the least amount of movement I make. He is unabashedly devoted to me….which is very humbling for a person as flawed as I am. He reminds me, that I am loved, with an everlasting love, by my Creator. It is both humbling and awe-inspiring…I am a MIRACLE. 6 Reply Linda4 months agoLindaI see my art supplies that give me such pleasure to use. It is truly amazing what the creative mind can come up with by using just a few pieces. 5 Reply Javier Visionquest4 months agoJavier VisionquestMycelium, the network of planetary intelligence that we commonly refer to as mushrooms creeps through just about every inch of soil, transferring data, nutrients, connecting all living things. At night I see some of this mycelium working the wood chip paths and glowing green with bioluminescence. Not that I can see it now but I know it’s there – I’m looking forward to finding “Old Faithful”, the Grifola frondosa, maitake, or hen of the woods that comes up in my “lawn” each year on Halloween or All Saints .This variety regulates blood glucose when eaten and I’m told by some that it’s not only intelligent but actually conscious and is growing where it is with an intention to heal me. Time to educate myself in a new topic. Yeah! In Ireland an announcement is coming tonight about wider Covid-19 restrictions, so I hope I’ll be able to collect it tomorrow before shops close for 6 weeks. Fingers crossed. Of course without water and sunshine it would not grow so each element needs the other in an intertwining circle. Each element depends on the other. Mix in oxygen and you have everything needed for life. Thanks be to God. 5 Reply Papilio4 months agoPapilioThe ground is filled with colorful autumn leaves. What amazes me is that I often forget that we humans are mortal beings just like these beautiful autumn leaves becoming part of soil although we don’t die every year. I’m grateful for this day. 5 Reply Patricia4 months agoPatriciaMy toes and my feet – and how I utterly depend on them to literally keep me balanced through the day. I take them for granted all too often; but soon I’ll put some nice socks on (Darn Tough hiking socks even for everyday, they’re the best) and I’ll express my appreciation to my dear feet that way. 6 Reply Ed Schulte4 months agoEd SchulteThe “I AM” in the word of the day to-day I am made of all the same stuff that makes the seasons what they are. HEATHER MALONEY 5 Reply Trish4 months agoTrishIt’s amazing that I live in a gorgeous apartment w/ beautiful wood floors & a variety of colorful rugs. I have a kitten that follows me everywhere. Did she mis-read her birth certificate?! It’s amazing that I’m planted in Kalamazoo, Michigan. How will I bloom? 6 Reply DeVonna4 months agoDeVonnaTrish! I lived just 45 mins away from Kalamazoo for 35 yrs….just up until my husband and I moved to Central Florida in 2019. We lived in tiny little Burr Oak Township, in the midst of a 30 acre woods. I miss the natural beauty of the north woods with it’s vibrant life of creatures and plants, BUT I love my new life here in Florida as well. I’ll bet the colors are amazing about now…and the air has got that familiar nip of fall in it… I’m glad to make your acquaintance! DeVonna 5 Reply Trish4 months agoTrishDeVonna, hello! I may have smiled at you as I passed through your quaint little Burr Oak. You’re right: it’s so gorgeous here right now & I’m so thankful for that. I’m driving a lot right now & the scenery certainly makes the time fly by!! 3 Reply devy4 months agodevyAs I sit at the kitchen table with my computer, my bare feet are on the brown tiles of our heated flooring. I can feel the heat coming up from the tiles into my feet and moving up into my legs displacing the cold air as the kitchen is warming up. The technology and the ability to have this amazes me and makes me grateful that I have a roof over my head to protect me from the element. The heat rising up my body reminds me of my meditation time when I focus on the energy that the universe shares...As I sit at the kitchen table with my computer, my bare feet are on the brown tiles of our heated flooring. How essential it seems and yet I take it for granted. It literally holds everything in place. It is inescapable (for most of us). And as long as you work within the limits it has established remarkable things happen! The Royal Palm can run very high from one square foot of ground! 4 Reply Debra4 months agoDebraThe amazing simplicity of that “one square foot of ground” in this moment. There is nothing else. There was/is nothing more. It is everything. That breath of air. That sound of silence. That love of your life so profound. Amazes me. Amazes you. 6 Reply Kevin4 months agoKevinIn the end, gravity wins, meaning all life eventually dies. And as long as I have the privilege of looking down at the earth and not covered by it, I’m off to an amazing day! 9 Reply Lioness4 months agoLionessThe calming colour of my carpet, its little bobbles shimmering in the light and shade underneath my desk.
