I acknowledge that family is a gift. Today we drove an hour and a half to spend time with family for dinner in Massachusetts. My Dad is 87 years old and still doing pretty well. It is always a gift to spend more time with him. Merry Christmas!

Grateful and joyful for the amelioration my father felt this morning concerning the painful and severe physical inflammations at several places of his body , to simply be and spending time with him, being together, just to feel we care, sharing with him moments of being touched, by joy as well as by the impermanence of life; that his dear friend seems to leave this world in the near future and accepting it, seeing him grateful for the time they were gifted to spend together these last three years since they met and which seems to have developed into a friendship; feeling myself gifted and grateful to share these essential moments with him in peace., not talking much but aware of the gift of being together in this. Thank you.

I survived this day. Even in the moments when I felt like the sky was falling down on me, I got through it. Sometimes the best I can do is just keep going and hope that things will change. It’s a gift to learn I am capable of handling hard stuff on my own. I am strong and little by little I am learning to be a person.

One of the gifts in my life is that today isn’t busy at all. I miss my daughters, who are far away, and will try to schedule a video call with them. That would be a gift indeed! My husband and I may go see a movie in the theater for a change of pace. I may go for a walk in the rain we’re currently experiencing in western Washington and marvel at the many amazing shades of green in the trees, bushes, and mosses. I live in a beautiful place that gives me gifts every day as long as I pay attention.

In theory, it’s quite simple. By pausing and
Looking around for the simple beauty and
having gratitude that my basic needs are
more than met. A re orienting. A slight
    adjustment. A North Star.

Members of my family (a son, his wife and one of my sisters) who live close by gathered at my home yesterday and I prepared baked turkey and all the trimmings for our Christmas Eve dinner so today will be a day of much needed rest for me! I’m having left over homemade pumpkin pie and coffee this morning and savoring the memories of so many Christmas eve gathering from the past. But as Joseph said, I give thanks for “the gift of another day.” I physically feel the loving,-giving-caring energy emanating from all who have and are gathering at this site this morning. What a gift! I give thanks for each and everyone of you.

I am grateful for the gift of this new day. I do not anticipate any busy moments tho! We are going to my parents’ house in a few hours, and we are just going to enjoy the time together, enjoy some food and football and be grateful for the gift of LIGHT that Christmas and the other holidays this time of year bring.

Merry Christmas Michele! My husband is originally from PA, and while he is a long time Steelers fan, we definitely root for the Eagles, too! Let’s go Eagles!!
