We’ve visited a few times over the past couple of years, and honeymooned there last fall. Such a magical, beautiful area. 2 Reply Carla3 months agoCarlaI live in the heart of Minneapolis, that broke and tore open on May 25, 2020, as George Floyd laid dying in the streets. The majority of the country and world broke open that day, as we began to talk about systemic racism, historical trauma, and so much more. I’m grateful to live and work among others who're beginning and continuing the conversation to change how it’s been, asking how might it be, how can it be. Healing will take a long time. May God grant many of us long lives for the work...I live in the heart of Minneapolis, that broke and tore open on May 25, 2020, as George Floyd laid dying in the streets. I am called to love and serve the people I am given here. We are in the deepest cold of the year right now (woke yesterday to -25F though this morning is a balmy 17!) but I even love that, knowing the cleansing power of the cold on invasive bacteria, viruses and insects, for example. Each season has its beauty and purpose. I feel rooted in soil and life here. I’m grateful. 8 Reply pkr3 months agopkrYay to Wisconsin. Love it……❤️ 2 Reply Mary Pat3 months agoMary PatFor some reason my answer went under Patricia’s, but here it is anyway…….My first thought was because my son and grandson live in town. And now my daughter lives in a small town close to us, only 30 minutes away. We have an Open Space right down the walkway, so Nature is very close. On the other side, the opposite direction, is our Old Town. We have a church community we love, and fits us well. We really are blessed…. 4 Reply Christine3 months agoChristineI wouldn’t trade with anyone. 8 Reply Kellie3 months agoKellieI live in NJ, USA! I’m so fortunate to have moved from the USA to Norway ! There have been many times in these past years where I have gone back and forth in my mind thinking how this is a “bad” place to live based on many different wrong views/perceptions. Now I see that this society is a blessing . It’s foundation is built on compassion and taking care of each other. Isn’t that beautiful? My faith community is nearby also, and I have the joy of being on a rowing team called the “Gray Buzzards,” for twenty-two years and counting (back issues prevent me from rowing regularly, so these days I’m the coxswain.) I’ve been retired now from salaried work for six years, but for 31 years I had the privilege of working directly with children and teens in my community, where my commute to work was a whooping 10th of a mile up the road! I frequently bump into old clients, now with their own children in tow, who stop me on the road to say hello, and sometimes still, to say “thank you” for my role, however brief, in their life journey. My blessings are many, indeed.
