And more. The hard truth is however that many of these blessings (clean drinking water, justice ) are not available to all, notably many Indigenous communities. Ii yearn for more equity. Putting that shelter in a well off country and in a nice place is many degrees of privilege beyond that. 3 Reply Brown Rose3 months agoBrown RoseWe are spoiled by the bike and walking paths. Can’t or don’t want to drive to the mountains? That’s OK. There are enough hidden gems that make you forget you are still in the city. 3 Reply Cathie3 months agoCathieWhere I live is a blessing due to the freedom to: worship as I wish, speak what I feel, come and go as I want,, breath fresh air, drink water when thirsty, eat food when hungry, walk in nature when time permits, be friends with whom I choose…too many blessings to list. 3 Reply Spring River3 months agoSpring RiverWhere I live is a blessing since I am able to freely go outside and enjoy the nature without hesitation or fear. I am freely able to practise religon with any wish and connect with those I love 4 Reply Blossom3 months agoBlossomThe preciousness of being home within yourself and every breath a gift. 4 Reply Blossom3 months agoBlossom“Dream of the Heart” can be answered. 3 Reply Don Jones3 months agoDon JonesIt is a beautiful planet, and from all accounts, very rare and precious. 4 Reply semelee3 months agosemeleeI leave a bit of myself everywhere I go. I feel as though I live in all of those places and among all of those I have touched or spoken to, or even smiled at. I live in a beautiful spider’s web of interconnectedness and that is a blessing because even when my mind grows small and I feel very alone, this truth reminds me I never am. None of us are. 4 Reply Elle3 months agoElleWhere I live (as a metaphor) is a blessing because it's about choosing how I want to 'Be'/ 'Being' from my inside {soul & heart}. Where I’ve come from = making some very poor choices for myself [or] letting others make too many choices for me…..going against what felt right, from inside. For the longest time, I was getting swallowed up by the negatives that I was just existing through, it felt like I was going to loose myself [again], if I did not change my attitude & outlook. I use to say where I lived was a prison, but- then I thought about people (& yeah- have seen some of those shows on t.v.) about those who are actually locked up/imprisoned in terrible places. How some of them have turned it around. It’s been happening throughout time…..some people choose to change what does not work for them. So, I had to ‘brave-up’, go inside and open my heart, to do better where I live (the actual place) & with those around me!! It’s been HARD, yet- I’ve felt like there was a reason {in the bigger picture} of why I landed back here. #1. A reality check…..I was coming from a version of my family that I needed to believe so it would not hurt so much but {facing} the truth with acceptance is always better. #2. Trusting & having faith in what I can not see {but} do believe in assists with my growth on a variety of levels = blessings. Their beauty, their glory take my breath away on a daily basis. I can feel God here. I am blessed & grateful.🙏✨ 6 Reply Mica3 months agoMicaLet me count the ways! They are many 😊🥰 3 Reply Linda3 months agoLindaI live in beautiful Oregon. Apart from the rain (!) it is a perfect place to live. It is a liberal area (like me) and we live an hour from the ocean and an hour from the mountains. I have many longtime friends here that I’ve known for 30+ years. It is truly a blessed place to be. 4 Reply Journey3 months agoJourneyWhat a great question. We live in Toronto, in a suburb about 22kms from downtown Toronto. We enjoy walking everyday in different hiking trails and paths. We can talk to our neighbors over the fence but we don’t feel like we live in a big town. We are also in an old neighborhood with bungalows so the single level houses makes everything more open. The view from by backyard is trees. Love our community and church. Toronto is mighty cold this week -25celsius but our backyard is covered with snow and the sun hitting the snow is blinding, I need sunglasses in the house to look out. Our home is cosy and homey and even though I would love to live in a really small town where I could walk everywhere and where work was a very short drive away, I still love where I am right now. What a great question.I grew up in Mumbai which is a completely different and also exciting experience. I would not trade growing up in Mumbai then and I would not trade living in Toronto now. Each city has been just what we needed for the phase of the lives we are in. Read More4 Reply Layla3 months agoLaylaI live in a different town than the one where I was born and raised. It’s forced me to become aware of my fear of being alone, break codependent patterns and learn how to live by faith. I’ve done the most growing here in these unfamiliar grounds. 3 Reply sunnypatti3 months agosunnypattiI absolutely love where I live! I grew up in Charleston, SC and lived there my whole life, minus a few college years. Two years ago, my husband and I found the most beautiful piece of land south of Charleston and put a home on it. We have space, our dog has almost 2 acres to run, and it's the first place that has ever really felt like home to me, other than my parents' house. We have space, our dog has almost 2 acres to run, and it’s the first place that has ever really felt like home to me, other than my parents’ house. I’ve never owned a home before this one. It’s a simple home, but big enough to have family over. The neighbors aren’t super close, but close enough to get to know a little here and there. There are deer in the area, and while there are farms and fields all around, there are also creeks, rivers, marshland, and a beach just 20 minutes down the road. Besides the area itself, where I live is such a blessing because of who I share it with – my husband and our cat and dog. The love here makes it the real blessing that it is, and I’m grateful for this every single day 🙂 Read More5 Reply Pilgrim3 months agoPilgrimSounds wonderful, sunnypatti! 3 Reply Holly in Ohio3 months agoHolly in OhioI think, perhaps, it is people that most makes where I live a blessing, for where there are people we love and who love us, we have many blessings. I feel fortunate to be in a small town where I can walk or bicycle to a shop, speak with a shopkeeper I know by name, get what I need, and see friends along the way. When I want a city or want nature, they are both close. Like Devy said, I feel fortunate to live free in a democratic nation. When I want a city or want nature, they are both close. Like Devy said, I feel fortunate to live free in a democratic nation. My heart goes out to the many people in the world who don’t have that. I’m glad to be where I am and feel very fortunate to have food, shelter, a library nearby… but I think most “wheres” have blessings. I think perhaps the question is asking us to “see” where we are, to perhaps notice things we’ve been overlooking. And now I start to see many other things I’ve missed… I like that I live in a place where the birds tell me the seasons… this morning a little female sparrow peeked out from the birdhouse across from my kitchen window as I got tea. I like that I have seasons here… it is very cold this morning, but it makes me appreciate warmth. The sunrise was a bit pink this morning, “earth” is my bigger home, somewhere in the rural countryside of our galaxy…. I don’t know if I would get bored of it but it always seems perfect to me to be tucked away in a small town, like your own universe within a larger universe. 3 Reply EJP3 months agoEJPThe ocean is a blessing with its comfort, wisdom and guidance, always providing friendship and just the right amount of peace. 9 Reply devy3 months agodevyI live in a country where like everything there are shortcomings. Even though there are, looking at the complete picture I also fortunate.. a good way of life, food on the table,A roof over my head, clothing on y back, hydro and heat on this cold day and living in a democratic society.. 8 Reply Nelson3 months agoNelsonI live about 20 minutes from my siblings and 2 hours away from our parents. Our parents are elderly and are needing more help as the days go by. It’s also really nice to watch my nieces and nephews grow up. It’s be hard on me emotionally if I lived further away. 8 Reply 1 2 Next » My Private Gratitude Journal Write an entry in your private gratefulness journal Get Started This site is brought to you by A Network for Grateful Living, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
