I feel gratitude for so many things that I used to take for granted, and my outlook is much sunnier. Not all the time, but more often than not. 2 Reply pkr8 months agopkrUpon awakening I thank Source for this “beautiful new day”. Starting my day with thankfulness, gratefulness sets the tone for my day ahead. I am thankful for All…….❤️🙏 2 Reply Don Jones8 months agoDon JonesGratefulness is a lens that aids clear seeing – seeing things as they are. And seeing things as they really are, brings an awakening to what has always been there. 1 Reply Carol8 months agoCarolI agree. "How we see anything is how we see everything." Richard Rohr I wrote a poem a few years ago about "Clear Seeing." CLEAR SEEING WE ARE PILGRIMS ON THE JOURNEY. WE SEARCH BUT ALL PATHS LEAD NO WHERE. WHY? BECAUSE WE NEVER LEFT THE GARDEN. WE JUST THINK WE DID. AND WHAT WE THINK MANIFESTS. AND WHAT MANIFESTS BECOMES OUR REALITY — A REALITY THAT DENIES OUR BIRTHRIGHT AND IMPRISONS OUR VERY SOUL. SO LET US RE-MEMBER, RE-CLAIM THE GARDEN. ROOT OURSELVES IN ITS AGELESS WISDOM AND BECOME WHAT WE WERE MEANT TO BE. WHOLE, WHOLLY, ONE WITH NATURE ONE WITH ALL CREATION, WEATHERING ALL THE SEASONS OF LIFE WITH GRACE, AND GRATEFULNESS FOR IT ALL. Read More3 Reply Don Jones8 months agoDon JonesThat is lovely. I used to wonder a lot about the idea of oneness – you know the usual questions around how injustice can exist and the like. But the more I looked, it seemed to me that in a dualistic world that we are so conditioned to, one position cannot exist without the seeming opposite. Cold cannot be cold without hot. Good cannot be good without bad, angels are not able to exist without demons, and perhaps ultimately, God without the devil. That is when the transcendence door opened for ...That is lovely. Now I see deeper into the fog. Read More1 Reply Carol8 months agoCarolDon, That is so beautifully expressed. Clear seeing truly applies to your words. There is a book “The Way to Love” by Anthony de Mello that I think you would find very interesting. It’s available on Amazon and the prices are reasonable. You can buy the pocket size new for about 9 bucks and used copies for even less. My mentor used to say that wishes are not threatening so I am wishing you could read that book of Anthony’s last meditations. Blessings, Carol 2 Reply Don Jones8 months agoDon JonesThanks carol – both for the suggestion and wish! 1 Reply Anne Gunn8 months agoAnne GunnI’ve learned that smiling at people I don’t know has a disarming effect on them and makes me thankful when they smile back at me — a total stranger. Somehow both of us have a better day. I’m grateful this insight found its way into my daily practice of living. 4 Reply Elaine8 months agoElaineI expect to be transformed. When disappointment discouragement and downheartedness come to visit if I wait mindfully and expectantly, I can count on a shift in perspective and the return of lightness and openness of heart. 3 Reply Holly in Ohio8 months agoHolly in OhioLiving gratefully has changed the way I greet the world in two ways: the way I give and the way I take. I have the expectation that I will find in the day many blessings, and I take my share gratefully. I also look for ways to contribute, and it can be as simple as really seeing and listening to someone, or a kind word. 5 Reply Jenn8 months agoJennI have more moments of joy and peace when I am able to practice gratitude. I see that all life is a gift, even my loneliest moments. Gratitude feels like a gateway to another world. 5 Reply JDS8 months agoJDS“Gratitude feels like a gateway to another world” I wrote that in my journal today …. 1 Reply Hot Sauce8 months agoHot SauceLiving gratefully has allowed me to view the world from a positive lens but also to resist toxic positivity. Things like noticing what the day is like when I take my dog out before dawn. Simply observing life -and each day – as it is. 4 Reply devy8 months agodevyWhat I am learning is the importance of greeting each day with gratitude and reverence. Over the past week, I still do my meditations in the morning but have been side track with stress and other factors which have taken away my practice of gratitude. I now realize the importance of doing both meditation and gratitude, even during times when times seem good. All it takes me is one thing to be a stressor which can bring back negative feelings. After a very harried two weeks with much stress and tension, I have come out the other side. Sometimes you just have to go through things to get to the other side. And I saw how all of this, lived over the past few weeks, had shifted my being grateful in certain areas of my life. So this morning, regardless of the insomnia, I greet the world with a grateful heart. And I will honor that gratefulness by leaving these words, and moving on to my morning meditation. ...So I am starting over again. Similar reciprocity ( aka accumulative effect ) is suggested in the ”Word for the Day’ A good conversation can’t be hurried, it needs time in which to meander its way to revelation and insight.
