23 days ago I lost my Mother on this day (14th) of May on Mother’s day. Yes reflecting was difficult but learning gratefulness allowed me to be sad for bit but move past it and think about the here and the now! Practicing gratefulness is very meaningful to me. Happy Mother’s day to all the Mother’s reflecting today. I attended a wonderful Mother’s day Mass at my church and spent time with my son today and went out to lunch. It was a beautiful sunny day about 65 degrees. Tonight my daughter is going to a new program, fingers crossed that she makes it there tonight. Sounds wonderful, holistic approach learning meditation and yoga. Praying that it all goes smoothly . Have a Goodnight All!

This morning I took a walk in the morning dawn which made everything better. Standing by the side of the river I could hear the song of my own mother knowingly someday I will see her once again… then, offering oblations of water, or flower to mother Smith River acts like a reminder.
I saw my first hummingbird at the feeder today, cultivate the soil, planting wildflowers to attract propagators and butterflies into my garden.

There are certain thoughts and actions that take me forward and certain thoughts and actions that take me backward. I have the choice which direction I take. Pretty basic, I know, but I have tested the theory out in both directions until the cows came home … and surprise, surprise!

Yesterday, I had the realization that I’d, for the first time in my life, “alchemized” painful experience and emotion into something that made me stronger. I’ve had a sense of joy since. I feel incredibly grateful for the pain. I now see it is what we need to become stronger.

I am thankful for each & every day. Some days I am delightfully surprised. Some days I see Divine intervention so clearly. Some days are ordinary. I am grateful for them all. I am grateful for this beautiful day. I am grateful that I have been blessed with thee most precious gift, my beautiful daughter.
    Happy Mother’s Day to All…..🌹🌸🌺❤️

Life has surprised me in a meaningful way by discovering a new place only an hour from me. My son had surprised me for a staycation at Anna Maria Island – neither of us had been here before. I LOVED it!! It had total Key West vibes. We ate good, had beach time, and really enjoyed ourselves here. This is a nice reminder to always try new adventures:)
Happy Mother’s Day to all our Moms:)🌷🌸🌹🌺🌼💐🌻

“Meaningful” and “pleasant” don’t necessarily go together. I received a frightening shock (far beyond surprise) in early April that has lingering and highly unpleasant aftereffects. On the positive side, that has led to long overdue actions and changes and I’m grateful for those. I have enough miles under my belt to know that even my darkest moments eventually recede and the sharp edges soften. That’s also true of the most joyous moments, so I’d better pay attention when those pass through my life.

Well, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting
new people and learning a bit about
them and other places and far off lands.
This always has a way of re charging me.
Also, this was the first morning with
the bedroom window open and listening
to all the different birds as I fell in and out
of sleep. I forgot about them and their
    morning communications.

The dawn chorus! I sleep with my windows open this time of year and those birds definitely wake before I want to. A while back I discovered a citizen science and arts project and I’ve recorded the dawn chorus a couple of times in past years. Looking it up to share with you reminded me that they want recordings in the month of May, so I’ll be rising with the birds. https://dawn-chorus.org/en/

I can’t think of a recent surprise from life, but today I’m especially grateful for the abundance that life offers. As a mom, I’ve learned more about a love in the last 34 years than I dreamed possible. That was a surprise. I had no idea of love’s depths before I became a mom. And I’m still learning, even though both my daughters are adults. My heart is full and grateful.
    Happy Mother’s Day! 💐

My daughters are 29 and almost 28 (in 2 wks) and my son is 33. My great-grandmother’s name was Laura and my Aunt’s name is Laura but we call her Laurie.
      Happy Mother’s Day:)

What a wonderful description–so true! I’m also the mother of two daughters; the older one turns 33 this year, the younger 29, and her name is Laura.

Always nice to hear of a fellow Laura. It’s not not an unusual name, but I haven’t met many others.
My daughters are 34 and 32.

I am not sure surprise is the right term, but my life has become more meaningful to me as I age. I feel the joy of each day and what is has to offer as our small forage farm along with the vegetable garden and some livestock has become a way of life to me now more than work. I have in the past worked many different jobs all related to agriculture and livestock. The place we call home was side income and to provide meat and vegetables for our family. Last year I did not take on any fencing jobs, only a couple of hay bailing ones. There is a man few miles down the road that I still help brand and sort cattle. I began helping his father who has since past and still give Randy an extra hand when needed. Maybe this shift in the meaningfulness of life actually began with my journey to regain sobriety. That is when I began to do my daily practices of meditation, my reflection on this site, and a deep sense of gratitude for all my good fortune that I sub consciously was trying to tear asunder with my addiction to alcohol. Thank you all that reflect here and those who maintain this site. It certainly has become a part of rediscovering the meaning of life for me. Namaste.

Life has surprised me recently by proving that when one door closes, another one opens….a career change due to the pandemic with amazing results.
