Being grateful allows us to reflect on the bad events we’ve been through and recycle them to show us what we do have. One example would be that I recently went through a very abusive relationship that recently ended rather brutally. This was a bad event. But gratitude has allowed me to identify that it was positive- I am grateful that I am no longer in danger, I’m grateful that the Universe removed something in my life that wasn’t benefiting me and I’m grateful for the strength I am going to have from now till the future. This then helps me to attract this into my life. Living gratefully helps me see that nothing is permanent and no matter how bleak a situation is, there is always something positive you can take away from it, and there is always a better situation waiting. Read More2 Reply Mary Pat6 months agoMary PatIt seems to help me remember that nothing is permanent. And it means I can see beyond the ‘downs’. So, for me, the ‘downs’ aren’t that deep or debilitating. 5 Reply Ose6 months agoOseCultivating Gratefulness nourishes the warmth of heart which stays with you in any situation then, allowing shipping through rough seas and strong winds calmly, while aware that the sun is just behind the cloudy sky. Then, the sun is always echoing inside also, and Gratefulness reflects warmth back to its universa,l life-giving light. 5 Reply Hot Sauce6 months agoHot SauceLiving gratefully helps me to see the blessings in both life's ups and downs. I know there will be ups and downs, and I also now know one can be grateful even when things are down. 5 Reply Anne Gunn6 months agoAnne GunnThe mere recognition that life has its ups and downs helps me immensely. Life is full of opposites “attracting” — good-bad; hot-cold, sun-rain, love-hate, ups-downs. I appreciate that with prayer I won’t stay in any one place for very long — and only God defines how long I will stay there. This may only make sense to me, but that’s how I operate. 5 Reply pkr6 months agopkrAnne Gunn, what you wrote makes perfect sense to me. I understand your sentiments. Have a glorious day. God bless you.🙏❤️✨ 2 Reply Anne Gunn6 months agoAnne GunnThank you PKR for your encouragement. Grace and peace, 3 Reply Blossom6 months agoBlossomDespite my very best effort, I have been completely run over, mangled and overwhelmed. Just the the action of writing down something to be grateful for gave me a bit of light. A reading today summed it up in a couple of sentences; “provide the subconscious with the work to be done” and “we build in thought the conditions that will later come into manifestation”. Let that be built on gratitude and love. 4 Reply Gaia6 months agoGaiaI appreciate my up’s more and stay in the good moments – enjoying them and being present and aware of their wonder. Living gratefully also makes the downs easier to handle and less bad, because I focus on the lessons I’m learning in stead of the pain 5 Reply dcdeb6 months agodcdebIt seems that more positive events come my way when i practice gratitude 5 Reply Micah6 months agoMicahIt puts into perspective the important things in life. Makes me value all the positives that happen daily as it is very easy to focus on the negative. 3 Reply Don Jones6 months agoDon JonesIt helps me put my nonsense aside. When I saw it I said, Gosh, of course, I know this, this isn’t the first time, this is natural, this is obvious. This isn’t the first time. I can’t remember the first time because this is my natural state – to be capacious for what’s going on. 4 Reply pkr6 months agopkrMaking gratefulness a priority in my “daily practice” makes the hard times easier to handle, to cope with. Being grateful has given me a different perspective on life, the good & the not so good. I feel I am better equipped to handle life when I am grateful. This site has helped me tremendously. Thank you kindly……🙏❤️ 5 Reply MamaCyndi56 months agoMamaCyndi5By breathing in gratitude I am able to stay connected to my essence and express thanks for my body. This reminds me that my body is here only for a short while but my being and essence is forever and how I interact can impact the legacy I leave behind. 5 Reply Mica6 months agoMicaLiving gratefully moves my energies up from the belly, where they tend to reside during life’s ‘downs’ 8 Reply vish6 months agovishit helps me be more conscious, more aware, more in the present moment and just motivates me to find something good even on bad days. 8 Reply Sandra6 months agoSandraLearn not to take things for granted and be grateful for who and what I have in my life. 6 Reply Jenn6 months agoJennPracticing gratitude helps soothe my nervous system and helps me return to a stance of abundance rather than scarcity. It means I let go of fear when I’m able to move toward gratitude. 9 Reply Nicki6 months agoNickiThey key for me is acceptance. Rather than trying to bury negative emotions, I am learning to just let myself experience them as much as possible without judgement, to give myself the space and understanding that I hope to give others. I wouldn't tell someone else in their moment of despair to just "look on the bright side" or "think positive" so why would I do that to myself? At least so far, I find that when I greet my emotions with acceptance I am able to move through them with more grace. Accepting life as it is means also accepting what rises within myself as it is. I don’t quite know how to put it into words but I’ve found that the paradox is that acceptance is the gateway to letting go. To accept eventually learn that we all go through difficult as well as good times and to appreciate what I have and be happy with it. I see gifts and blessings in things that I might not be aware of, especially if I concentrate on the negative experiences. 5 Reply Marnie Jackson6 months agoMarnie JacksonLiving gratefully helps me see the lessons in hard things.
